Mental Health Association-LTSR
The mission of the Mental Health Association is to promote an environment of empowerment and acceptance for all people dealing with mental health issues through advocacy, education, and comprehensive support services. We foster opportunities for growth, recovery, inclusion, and, most importantly HOPE.

We envision a community in which all members with mental health issues are accepted, not stigmatized, and have an opportunity to reach their full potential. Founded in 1965, the Mental Health Association of Washington County is a non-profit agency dedicated to assisting people with mental illness. For over 45 years, the Mental Health Association has played a leading role in advocacy, providing services, and educating the community.
Services

Educational speakers present on topical issues at every meeting.
The family of a special needs child has many concerns. The service needed to address these concerns is often difficult to locate. The advocate can assist families in locating needed services for their child. The advocate can also help families work with various child serving agencies as mental health/mental retardation, children and youth, drug and alcohol, and schools.
There is no time frame for the length of stay for each resident. Each client is able to move at his or her own pace in accomplishing the goals of their individual treatment plan. Referrals to the program can be made to the Washington County MH/MR as well as the Greene County MH/MR Administrative Offices.
The Ombudsman is a person who can provide you with information about managed care and help you with filing complaints and grievances. The ombudsman program serves adults, children, teens, and their families who are consumers of mental health and/or substance abuse services through the network of Value Behavioral Health of Pennsylvania (VBH-PA).
