Persad Center is dedicated to improving the well-being of the LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning) communities and the HIV/AIDS communities in Western Pennsylvania. Through a variety of outreach, prevention, counseling, advocacy, and training services, we work to resolve problems faced by the LGBTQ+ and HIV/AIDS communities.

Founded in 1972, Persad Center is one of the nation's trailblazers in offering professional counseling services specifically for the LGBTQ+ community. Over decades, we've learned a lot about the unique experiences and challenges faced by LGBTQ+ people. In the 1980's Persad expanded its mission to serve individuals infected and affected by HIV/AIDS to respond to the devastating impact the disease was having on our communities.
Services
Come work with one of the country's pioneering human service agencies and be a part of one of the best trained and most experienced staffs in the field. Help make a difference in the lives of the LGBTQ+ and HIV/AIDS communities while working in a comfortable and affirming office environment where you can truly feel free to be yourself.
Persad Center provides professional, culturally-affirming counseling and psychiatric services for LGBTQ+ and HIV/AIDS-affected people. We offer services to individuals, couples, and families who are seeking to enjoy healthy and fulfilling lives. Getting services from a culturally affirming and competent agency means that you will be welcomed by all staff and encouraged to be your true and best self.
Persad Center provides an array of services to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and help individuals who are HIV+ to get the care they need. Those interested in accessing this service must have a confirmed HIV/AIDS diagnosis and reside in southwest Pennsylvania. Please note: those seeking emergency financial assistance must meet income eligibility requirements.
Persad Center is an ally and caring provider for individuals who do not fit into society's expectations of gender presentation or identity. We recognize the struggle to live fully while under pressure to conform in a world of binary sex/gender. We offer information and affirming counseling to individuals who are seeking to transform their lives to their authentic gender presentation or identity.
At Persad Center, we believe that both LGBTQ+ identifying children and parents deserve safe, loving homes. Families are defined in many different ways and come in diverse shapes and sizes and we are proud to work with our partner at Adoption Connection to help families create home environments defined by love, dignity and respect.

Annual 5K race in North Park benefitting the Persad Center of Pittsburgh. Founded in 1972, the Persad Center is the nation's second oldest licensed counseling center specifically created to serve the LGBT and HIV positive communities.
2013 was the second time this race has been held. Starting at the Boathouse and utilizing the same out and back course that most 5K races use in North Park. Nice, mostly flat course with one water stand midway.
Great way to raise money for a great cause. Nice long sleeve technical shirt was provided with registration.
