Campers are able to focus on one particular area, or choose to select a variety of activities. We celebrate diversity and provide a safe environment for children to try new things. French Woods is a co-ed sleepaway performing arts summer camp for children aged 7 to 17. Campers come from every state and over 40 countries.
Internationally recognized as a premiere program in the performing arts, we feature options in music, art, theater, dance, circus, magic and horseback. In addition to our core activities, all the programs of a traditional summer camp and more are included in our offerings. Younger campers have additional guidance and supervision, while older campers can participate in community service and legacy projects in addition to college prep courses.

Services
Our youngest campers get extra guidance and counselors who take them from activity to activity, while still benefiting from all the choice of the French Woods program. French Woods has been a model for circus programs springing up throughout camping, but no one can equal our staff or facilities. Here's a video about putting together some acts for one of our circus shows: (15 minutes long).
The teenage years are the critical period for developing leadership skills. Please take note of our Counselor in Training (CIT) requirements. If you're concerned about the financial commitment of registering for camp, we recommend travel insurance. You can reach out to your current agent, or use a vendor we recommend.
At French Woods we pride ourselves on offering you a unique individualized camping experience. Campers completely determine which activities they will participate in. Children are offered a wide range of performing and visual arts in addition to programs in sports, waterfront, horseback riding, and much more.
We offer a wide variety of classes and activities in many fine art and craft disciplines. Campers can be involved in intense workshops or dabble in any area they are interested in. In our drawing and painting department, campers may use pencil, graphite, pen and ink, watercolor, acrylic and oil. There is also a large-scale mural program.
Campers can take part in our short film program, where campers, write, direct, produce and edit short films which are played in our film festival every session. Learn how to shoot and edit video using our state of the art equipment - we use 3-ccd mini-dv cameras and non linear editing software including iMovie, Final Cut and Premier.

I have been going to French Woods for 5 years. Going to camp is my favorite part of the year. The camp counselors are so kind. They is an activity for everyone! The musical theatre program is so amazing. The shows are broadway quality. The circus is my personal favorite. You can do stuff that you would of never imagined doing at home. From trapeze to juggling they have it.

Oh, French Woods, how I miss you.
I attended French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts for three weeks in the summer of 2005, and I have to say, the experience was unforgettable. Though it is mainly a performing arts camp, they have everything you could possibly imagine in terms of activities and specialties. To ensure that campers really get to hone in on things they want to spend more time doing and also to ensure that campers get to try new things, the camp has a major/minor system. The first full day of the session (each session is 3 weeks) is six-minor day, when you audition for musicals
