This was not long after the Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) had begun a massive dredging project that created East Potomac Park, the Tidal Basin and created many of the features of the SW Washington Waterfront that we are familiar with today.
The SW Waterfront, known as the "sixth Street Wharf" since the time of the Civil War, was a working seaport, with fish wharfs, municipal piers for tobacco and farm produce, numerous ice and coal docks, towing companies and coastal steamship wharfs projecting into the Channel.

Fantastic boat club located in the newest, most premier mixed use waterfront development in Washington, DC. Amazing views of Washington Channel, concrete docks, everything is all new in past 2 years. Visit and dine at the Club's own restaurant or others located steps away. A must see travelling by boat.

I was a visitor here with high expectations that were severely let down. The place is small with boring décor. There is just a standard bar (which isn't free so you'd be better off going to a better bar) and mostly old people sitting around talking (it is a yacht club after all). The surrounding area is much more exciting and I frankly could not wait to leave. And while most people in the club were very friendly, I encountered one very rude member who mistreated me for just being a visitor. I'll go out of my way not to revisit. You'd be better off doing pretty much anything else in the Wharf.
