Dharma Center
Dharma Center of Trikaya Buddhism in San Diego exists to share the Dharma - the teachings of meditation and mindfulness - and to assist in the Awakening of those who wish to free themselves of suffering. Our meditation hall and community of members provides a sanctuary from the turbulent world, where students at all levels can deepen and refine their connection to Light.

We welcome you to join us at class, on Member adventures, and in our mission to Awaken, one moment at a time. Sign up for our Mailing List to receive our monthly meditation tip, inspiration, and more. Established in 1998, Dharma Center is based in the Rama Lineage, sharing the practices of Trikaya Buddhism.
Services
As our world faces uncertainty and turbulence, we're being moved to respond to this suffering in a big way: Classes with optional tuition. Not everyone who meditates is interested in Enlightenment; however everyone can benefit from meditation. Meditation and mindfulness increases awareness, improves concentration, decreases stress, slows aging, and teaches us acceptance of ourselves and others.
We offer weekly classes and practice sessions with no set tuition. If you find value in what we offer, we invite you to help support Dharma Center by paying tuition in the amount of your choice, even if that is nothing. The suggested tuition is $20; however, you may pay what you wish. We accept cash, checks, and credit cards.
A Spiritual Retreat is a strategic withdrawal with the intention to return. Stepping away from the world allows us to gather our strength and let go of old patterns. When we go on a retreat together, the power is amplified by all those who attend, allowing us to reach deeper into Light. At Dharma Center, we design our retreats with time to withdraw, learn, rejuvenate, and integrate the experience.
Dharma Center offers affordable meditation classes to the public. Students and visitors learn how to live and work in the world through a variety of powerful meditation and mindfulness practices given by our team of teachers. We've created a new Member's Portal with access to the Dharma Talk Archive, which includes recordings of past Dharma Center classes!
All things grow from the attention placed upon them. Focus your attention on a thought, and it grows into an entire train of thoughts. By focusing the mind on gratitude or the beauty of a tree or whatever beautiful thing you have in front of you, beauty and gratitude within you grows. Everything changes, and the mind rises into states of happiness, peace, and unity.

I've been "attending" Dharma Center for the past year (virtual classes) and my attitude toward life had totally changed. The greatest change so far is that now, when I'm having a good day for no reason, I notice it while it's happening instead of after the fact. This allows me to make the most of it and stay in a higher, healthier mind state

Times are interesting right now, that's for sure. So I decided to look within and take a different approach on life and what's going on around me. I came across this meditation center in OB. I reached out to them to tell them a little about me and what I am searching for. Due to Covid they are not able to have in person classes. So, I was directed to the online zoom classes. I wasn't sure how this was going to work out, as I am very much so an "in person" type of person when it comes to these practices. Much to my surprise the zoom class was great! The practitioner was fantastic and new to giving

Your search stops here; i've been a seeker on and off my whole adult life and I never quite found anything that stuck or resonated with me... until now! My friend saw an ad in The Reader and ever since we have been regular attendees of the meditation classes and even became members Especially grateful that Dharma Center now offers free online meditation classes via Zoom so that myself and others can continue to find solace in community and practice.

The owner, Turīya, teaches a very profound yet practical style of buddhism called Trikaya; these teachings have irrevocably chnaged the course

I just returned home from Teresa's class at Dharma Center and have to tell you what an amazing experience it was! She did a Chakra meditation for healing using all 7 major chakras. The music was truly Divine and perfectly choreographed for the dance of the Chakras and the Kundalini energy.
As the music progressed we were drawn upward from denser states of being to lighter and higher states, culminating in a state of total blissful absorption. The energetic vibration was and continues to be very, very high. That's why I'm using that energy to write this and channel this energy to do other positive

I have been meditating daily for over a year now. I have been practicing yoga for 5 years and daily for the past year. Both practices have changed my life. I have lived in OB for three years and have passed the Dharma Center and have wanted to check it out but I guess you would say it wasn't time! This past summer I started attending the Dharma Center because I wanted to find a community and from my first step into the center I felt at home. Though I come at least weekly, I have explored other centers and though they have felt welcoming I keep coming back to the Dharma Center in Ocean Beach. The

One of the oldest meditation centers in San Diego. For over 18 years and it served San Diego spiritual Seekers to want to understand Buddhism As Americans. The founders of the center dedicated so much of their time to keep the doors open and often paid rent out of their own pockets. Thank you Dharma Center for being there for me.

I have been meditating on and off for several years. I have looked into various communities and I've never quite found my home. I considered myself in a spiritual buffet for all these years, taking little bites here and there of different practices. Nothing I have found so far has made me want to really dive deeper in. Part of this was because of the rigidity and the formality of these different practices. From the moment I walked in the door of the Dharma Center, all feelings of pretentiousness, and structure that made me feel a bit of unease at other locations was nowhere to be found. Comfort

The Dharma Center teachers are amazing, the atmosphere is so meditative, you feel like your in a contemporary Tibetan monastery. The energy brings you into meditation effortlessly. Dharma Center is by far one of the best places to meditate in San Diego. You come in curious, you leave shifted and uplifted.

This is definitely a welcoming place to start your meditation practice. I have been coming for over a year and it surpassed my expectations.
What is less known: The Dharma Center is a school for spiritual growth. It operates from deep rooted wisdom. If you do the work suggested, you can quickly advance your meditation AND your life. ALL the teachers are excellent, some published great books.
This center has been a hidden gem for 18 years. Time to find it and let it shine within you!

Dharma Center is the perfect place to practice meditation. I feel a tremendous amount of peace and stillness when I sit with the various teachers here. Each teacher brings forth their own life experiences to share the practice. If you are looking for a place to learn meditation or to further grow your practice Dharma Center is the jewel within the lotus flower - pristine, high, bright, and happy!

I have been attending classes regularly here for 7 years; I love it!! There are several teachers, each with their own unique style. Most classes consist of a short meditation, a dharma talk (about mindfulness, working in the world, dealing with other people, attachments, etc.) and then a slightly longer meditation (~10-15 minutes). They have open, free meditation hours as well. It's a fairly small, very high energy space, with really grounded, friendly people. It's focused on the practical aspects of meditation and mindfulness, not so much on ritual or esoteric aspects. It's also right by the beach

This small non-profit meditation center is precious. I'm glad it's there. The teachers range in style and it's good to try a few to see who you vibe with.

I like the perspective of living in the modern world with mindfulness, it was what I was looking for.

The center is used mostly in the evenings for mediation so it's closed up during the day and right by the beach soooo it's a little smelly at times. The bright side is because it's only used for meditation it's easy to fall into mediation there...no stale energy other then the damp sea smell. And also

If you've been thinking about giving meditation a try and want to find out more about it, or if you aren't sure how to start the practice, I think you'll find the Dharma Center in OB a fantastic resource! Even people who've been meditating for a while have told me they really appreciate having a place like the Dharma Center to go to.

I haven't really meditated before before attending a session here. I sort of thought yoga was the same thing. My friend took me because I was curious. It's a great place to go for your first time - Samadhi, our session conductor,
