Our individual therapy sessions target the unresolved core issues that keep a person from living life to the fullest. We help partners work together in a collaborative way to solve problems and improve their relationship in the process. We offer family and relationship therapy to work on creating new patterns of communication and functioning.

We offer a 28 Day Intensive Program such as a 3 day per week Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) 5 days a week. Basic Steps Mental Health provides an in-depth Outpatient Program that is residential like in its scope. We treat the root causes of addiction and mood disorders with compassion and care.

Participants are taught numerous Psychological approaches to get to the root of the problem. We treat the underlying causes of addiction and mood disorders through the use of Spiritual Psychology.
Since 1994 Dr. Scott Alpert has been treating problems on four levels: Physically, Mentally, Emotionally, and Spiritually. He has done this at a Mental Health Urgent Care Center, in Residential Treatment, and now in an Outpatient setting for ongoing care. Treatment is not an event, but an ongoing endeavor and Basic Steps Mental Health is committed to being there for you every step of the way.
Basic Steps Mental Health Workshop series provides people with cutting-edge psychological methods. The blend of Clinical Psychology and Spirituality is new and vibrant! Our workshops focus on how to move past the obstacles in your life to achieve your dreams. The training was developed in 1994 and has had a few facelifts to its present format.
Written to take the mystery out of psychology, this book provides practical guidance to help people literally become their own counselor. Self-Helping provides a comprehensive model that combines 10 psychological approaches that target the whole person - physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) assists people who need continual assistance with Depression and Anxiety Disorders and/or substance addiction. When one hour a week conventional therapy won't do the trick, people have three hours of treatment multiple times a week to learn innovative tools to address their problems at the root, for lasting success.

Basic steps is a place I look forward going to weekly, I leave everytime with more and more clarity. I continue to learn new things I am able to apply to real life using tools I’ve never heard of or used before thanks to Scott. Scott feels like a friend that has compassion and wisdom for me each visit and never pushes his knowledge or beliefs, allowing me to be open minded on my own levels at my own time in my growth. This is not your average therapy and I’m very thankful I found this place.

Dr. Scott is an amazing counselor and all around great guy. As his intern at the site I have seen his compassion for his clients and his passion for the profession. At Basic Steps he uses a wide variety of psychological approaches to treat the whole person. Scott works with all types of clients including those with depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and relationship problems. I have learned so much from Scott and thankful for his teachings.

Basic Steps is a counseling site like none other. They worked with me with a wide variety of methods that let me see my problems for different angles and actually resolve them. I now have a wide variety of resources and methods that I can use on my own to overcome the various challenges that life throws at me. I am thankful for Scott and his methods. Dr. Scott sets himself apart from everyone else I know. He focuses on spiritual psychology, and works on healing issues at the root to resolve trauma. This is opposed to the pill-pushing band-aid approach most psychologists take, which I highly approve of.
If you want help to heal, I highly recommend Dr. Scott.

Both Dr. Scott and Judith are absolutely wonderful to work with! They are so very caring and have really great tools to help you work through problems. The spiritual psychology approach is one that encompasses the whole person and is aimed at healing the primary wounds that often keep us in a cycle of mental, emotional, and behavioral patterns that are both painful and keep us from our joy. I’ve been seeing Dr Scott for about 6 months now and am very impressed with his methods for helping heal. Like many, I was apprehensive about seeking mental health and what the experience would be like. Dr Scott is a very kind person that is easy to talk to and genuinely cares about his patients. One of the things I like best is that he teaches you various techniques that you can implement on your own outside of the sessions. This becomes super helpful for those hard days at work or other unexpected life events.
