Briggs General Store
In 1865, Thomas H. Briggs opened his hardware store on Fayetteville Street. This flagship location was Raleigh's first skyscraper. Today, we honor our heritage and we have returned back to our roots downtown Raleigh. Our location is at 111 E. Hargett St, just a few blocks from the original Briggs Hardware Building where Thomas H. Briggs once stood.

Come visit us today! Can you handle the heat? Try this sophisticated mixer where the first sip is sweet but ends savory. Bruce Julian Bloody Mary Mix is North Carolina-handcrafted and all-natural that can be enjoyed with a splash of vodka and a garnish while you kick back. We will be able to duplicate any set of keys and also cut keys to fit any type of lock you wish.

Went in to buy a basket. Was told none of the baskets were for sale. So I asked if they had anything that would hold item for a gift. Unfortunately I was told "sorry, we can't help you".... I left a bit upset. They refused to sell me a basket.

Raleigh's iconic Briggs Hardware has left the city and is now Briggs General Store, located in the Emerald Plantation Shopping Center, near Hwy 55 burgers and fries. Same owners as in Raleigh. Fortunately, they brought a part of Raleigh with them including a wall of historic photos. They also have a refrigerated case and are selling goods from Raleigh's Clyde Cooper's Barbecue.
The space they are renting already had a small bar in it, and they plan to have it operational soon. I found NC food products, including bbq sauce and jellies, plus many seasonable items for the home

Great smaller hardware store in the heart of downtown. They not only have hardware, but a lot of other local goods to choose from. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly also.

The owner is a sweet lady. I usually go in this store every few days because their ice cream is so smooth and creamy. The banana pudding ice cream is to die for, lol...

Unique small hardware / general store. A little higher priced than what you can get at more national brands, but if you are in Downtown Raleigh and need a small tool, then this is the place to get it. They also have general store type items, candies, local foods, etc. Worth a visit and stop. Maybe you will find that small item you need to fix that thing in the office, or that small unique gift you just need for your favorite uncle.

Not really a hardware store. It's all toys and nik naks and a light bulb or two. When i asked if they carried any real hardware, the woman at the counter said "get the he'll out of here a--hole". Such a sad thing for someone to be that way at a "business".

Evelyn is the Sweetest lady in North Carolina! So helpful with such a wonderful store. Don’t miss the chance to stop in and look things over and ask her about all her Capitol Hill exploits and how she is related to Earl Scruggs....she’s the Foggy Mountain Girl you never ever heard of until now! Oh, and spend some money there, too!

The dog was a lot nicer than the owners. We came in her for a big purchase for a group coming to visit raleigh for a conference, and so we wanted as much local stuff that we could buy. The two starred at us when we walked in and only said "do you want me to call the dog back?" As we were petting it... We asked the guy for prices on the magnets he said (they are on the magnet) - they were not.
Very unfriendly, probably prejudice. We ended up walking out.
