I have went to this store twice to fill propane tanks. The first time a very nice young man filled them and charged me by the pound which is how I have always been charged at other stores. I took two tanks today one was dead empty and the other was just under full but I decided to take them both to get topped off while making the trip. I have no problem driving a little out the way to support a small business but today I was charged for two full tanks after telling the employee one was almost full and he had no response at all. He did not tell me that he would still charge for TWO FULL tanks. When

Knowledgeable staff, great old style hardware store that you don't have to walk a mile to find your next item. Many prices are actually (and substantially) lower than Lowe's and HD. I just wish more of them, but that would probably ruin the culture.

I've used this little hardware store for decades! So much quicker to just run up the street to a local business than to one of the big box stores. They have an amazing assortment tucked into such a small space and they have knowledgeable sales people. I really do recommend them.

Went here the other day while camping at the fairgrounds is the fairgrounds to get a really good AA really good a frame ladder and they had an even better one and they had and even better 1 than I was expecting, The young man at the front counter was incredibly attentive and helpful, If you're definitely anywhere near the state fairgrounds or if you're like me and are or if you're like me and are camping there and you need anything you need any type of last minute supplies I would eyes I would definitely check them out

Hands down … the best hardware store in Raleigh!
Why? Customer service is superb. They will willingly help you find anything or help you with a project. The opposite of the big box hardware stores.

I have been going there for over 10 years and they have WITHOUT FAIL had the best customer service and care for their customers (especially during the pandemic) of any store I've been to in Raleigh. I have been going to Burke Brothers since first moving to Raleigh nearly 12 years ago. Repeatedly, they are the nicest, most helpful store and have helped me on so many projects... from when working at the vet school, to when I needed a special crowbar to be modified for a craft show we were doing at the fairgrounds, to just helping me get the… right supplies for home projects. My parents still rave at how much they love Burke Brothers and wish they had one in TN. I am so grateful to live so close to a neighborhood store that cares so much about their community. ❤❤❤
