The Stephensons bought the store in 1973 from Stewart Hall and with Leon and then Ralph's help started to build the business by adding onto the building on both sides, sending out Tom's own Ace Hardware paper and calendar, and by remodeling and adding products constantly. The store became known as the friendly neighborhood place to go for ready advice and the latest products as well as products that could not be found anywhere else.
Mike Kelley (from Reckless Video) and Kathy Stephenson got to continue serving "hardware with heart" to the Maple Leaf community when they took over the store. Much has changed in the last sixty years but what remains the same is our family's dedication to serving up real hardware with real service.

When I need something special (or don't know what I really need) their staff is always helpful at pointing me in the right direction. The fact that they carry a great selection of tools (including Craftsman) makes it the place to go. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. This is the place to go when you need just one or two special parts for a project (instead of going to the big box stores that package everything in plastic with more of the thing than you'll ever need). This is what hardware stores USED TO BE LIKE (thankfully Maple Leaf still is).

Consistently helpful in every way. I've bought lots of paint here. Excellent selection of small hardware and fasteners of every sort. Useful selection of tools. They can order anything that's in the Ace catalog for you if they don't stock it. Every year they send my a $5 birthday coupon and I always use it.

I've been a customer of this Ace Hardware for a few months. I love it so much-it is conveniently located and they have both the essentials in hardware as well as gifts. This is a great one stop shop for home needs and even gifts. They are enforcing masks and social distancing in a time of COVID-19. Bonus-if you want to get a bucket with a cool design on it, they have lots of great options on display behind the cashiers!

I've been a customer at this Ace for several years and I've typically had a great experience. The employees are obviously loyal employees and are customer focused and knowledgeable. I love that the store is small and easy to navigate, so we try to shop there as often as we can and avoid the larger, corporate stores. It is for these reasons that we chose to buy paint there when redoing our bedroom. We picked up several paint chips from Lowes, Home Depot, Maple Leaf Hardware and another Ace down the street and chose what samples we wanted to purchase from there. One of the colors we chose

Usually the people working there have been very helpful. However I went there the other day with a straight forward question. After he handed me an obviously wrong size he became very upset and frustrated. As if I was the one with the problem. He was very rude and eventually just walked away from me. Very poor customer service. Not sure if I want to go back there.

I have gone here innumerable times over the years, and have been there several times in the last few months of COVID. This place is fantastic, with lots of helpful and knowledge staff. My most recent trip- I needed to replace a single nut. One of the staff spent 5-10 minutes going through multiple bins before finding the one that would work on my weird piece of equipment - for a total sale of $.34.

ACE AINT THE PLACE! Remember how "friendly" Ace was supposed to be? Well give them a few rules to beat their customers over the head with and they become like obnoxious 16-year-old lifeguards at the summer pool! Despite prior visits with my Frenchi who is uniquely off-leash and never gives any trouble, during my last attempt to overspend on hardware, Manager John was guarding their door and abruptly refuses our entrance without a leash. I had no leash but did John want to help? Nope! ACE AINT THE PLACE! I placed my little fella back into the car and skirted John with his smug power-look

I went to purchase a filter for my air handler. I was greeted with they're in plumbing, offered no help. Went to plumbing found the one I needed 18x24x1. A employee suggested a different filter 18x25x1. "It's almost the same, less expensive and a lot of people use this one". I paid, exited, went home, it didn't fit. When I attempted to return/exchange for the filter I wanted originally I was told no returns. No signs posted at the time, the cashier never mentioned it at checkout. They don't mansplain to ladies. They have a generous return policy. They once re-cut a key that another ACE had messed up and didn't charge me. They sell buckets with maple leaves printed on them that say Maple Leaf ACE. What more could anyone ask for?

Wow - what great customer service!! I was here during the frenzy of snowpocalypse preparations and several cars coming and going from this tiny parking lot. They had parking attendants directing folks, tons of staff inside helping people, and quick checkout lines. I bought 5 bundles of firewood in case we lose power in the next week and I need to keep myself and my cats warm!
