At Anacortes Dermatology we accept and bill most insurances. We are contracted and in-network with Medicare, and are a 'Preferred Provider' with Regence, Premera Blue Cross, United Healthcare, Aetna, and Cigna, Kaiser, Bridgespan, and First Choice Health Network. We also see patients with Tricare Select.
Since 2008, Dr. Hines has significantly contributed to educating our community by giving lectures on the topic of mental health and the stigma of mental diseases. Many members of our community are unaware the impact that mental illness has on families, and the true cost of treating mental disorders far outreaches even our wildest expectations.

I felt comfortable and confident in the care provided by Anacortes Dermatology from the get-go; beginning with scheduling and completing paperwork prior to the appointment to the way the appointment itself was conducted. Dr. Hines and his assistant were clear and consistent in taking our medical history, conducting the exam, and discharge instructions and education. I highly recommend Anacortes Dermatology.

Last week I underwent a cancer surgery on my forehead. Today they removed the stitches. Dr. Hines is the best of the best! He and his staff are caring and dedicated to insure the best possible outcome for a patient like me, 81 years old woman. It is ironic, that he is the only locally owned and operated dermatologist in Skagit Co. He does not have a glitzy advertisement like others in the area. My wife and I recently moved to Anacortes from California. Among all the things to do upon moving to a new area, we needed to source and select doctors of various specialties. My predisposition for developing pre-cancerous spots, particularly on my scalp and face, require that I see a dermatologist at least every 6 to 12 months. Dr. Hines and assistant Nancy sent me home relieved to have a rash I'd suffered for almost a year, properly diagnosed by Dr. Hines on my very first visit. Lab work was done quickly in his clinic while i waited for the diagnosis, and a prescription sent to the pharmacy immediately. He was a clear communicator, as was Nancy. I visited Dr. Hines to check on a mole I was concerned about and then ended up having a full checkup. He and the nurse were extremely professional and made me feel completely comfortable. He took the time to talk with me about factors that impact my skin type specifically. No hurried rush and short answers, I felt as though I was getting the best treatment possible. When we moved to Anacortes a couple years ago I began searching for a local dermatology practice that was not part of a large, remote medical service organization where it felt like the doctor was being pushed to rush your appointment so they could get to the next one. A smaller, “hometown doctor’s practice” that provided a more accessible, personalized level of care was my preference. I selected Anacortes Dermatology. Dr. Hines is very responsive, explains any issues very well and truly seems interested in providing exceptional care. I have been very pleased.

I have been a patient of Dr. Hines for a few years now and have had several IPL treatments. What I like about Anacortes Dermatology compared to others, is that I don’t feel like I’m being up-sold on more services. Other dermatologists wanted me to come in for a series of IPL treatments over several months which increases my time and cost significantly while yielding the same result. I was very happy with my recent visit to Dr. Hines for my full body yearly scan, and also addressing some additional skin issues/concerns I am having. I have had a very difficult time finding a local dermatologist that I feel is doing a good job checking my skin and wanting to support my health. Since I have a history of multiple melanomas it is very important that I find a dermatologist that is knowledgeable and takes care to make sure I stay clear of future issues. I moved to Anacortes recently from a city with a huge hospital and by passed the clinic as it blended in with other houses. I was skeptical, like the dentist in the strip mall offering a super discount to pull all your teeth. However, I trusted the glowing user reviews and they were right, Anacortes Dermatology is a gem. I have nothing but good things to say about my experience. I left a message asking about their experience with a specific concern. The doc called me back and was very thoughtful in his response. I went to their offices and both the doc and the receptionist were as wonderful in-person as on the phone. He is very knowledgeable comprehensive. They want to make sure they have enough time to spend with you when you make an appointment. I was really impressed with my first visit to Anacortes Dermatology. I've been to a number of dermos over the years, and always felt like I was being rushed out of the office. This is not the case with AD! Both the doctor and the nurse were very patient and consultative the entire time. I'm really looking forward to continuing my care here.
