It began the way all good things begin: with music videos! At 16, I began copying all the best hairstyles I saw on the screen. My friends reacted so positively that soon I started doing other people's hair--and that's when I realized that I'd found my passion. Creative precision haircuts are my specialty.
I love to do bobs, pixies, curly and edgy cuts, just as much as I love the variety of styles for my gentlemen clients. I'm always learning new methods and techniques professionally--like those from, Pureology, Rezo Academy, DevaCurl Academy and Redken to name a few. When my clients smile as they're getting up from my chair, I'm reminded again of just how lucky I am to have my dream career.

I decided to go natural during the pandemic and really didn't know where to start. My previous stylist did my big chop but didn't specialize in natural hair... So I went on the hunt. I was so excited to get this recommendation in the South Bay.

I cannot recommend Cocoa highly enough! As a new curly hair client I went for the CocoaLovesCurls experience. The overall experience was on point. In addition to a beautiful cut, Cocoa was a great teacher provided instructions on application of products and use of tools to shape my curls. She really knows her stuff and I left feeling beautiful and pampered.

I've been to Cocoa twice now and I am so thankful that I was referred to her through a fellow curly haired friend. She's incredibly accommodating, kind, and answers all of my hair related questions with all of her years of expertise. Growing up as the only one with curly wavy hair amongst my family and friends, I had always resorted to straightening my hair on a daily basis, and never finding someone who could cut/style my hair nor give me advice on how to take care of my hair. I am so excited to see how my hair journey evolves!

Cocoa is the best. I have thick and coily hair that has caused me hair salon troubles for as long as I can remember until I came here. I found CocoaLovesHair scrolling through DevaCurl's find a stylist nearby me. I was able to book an appointment with week's notice online. I am so glad that I got my hair done by Cocoa, she is so educated about the hair I have and gave me a bunch of advice which will help me continue to keep my hair healthy and looking good. She is also very nice and made my experience at the hair salon not one of high stress as past experiences with others have been.

This was my first time with Cocoa and I am super pleased with the results! I always go for a red. The particular shade I wanted this time would have only been possible by bleaching my hair. I appreciate that she was honest with me about this and didn't just agree to the color & then bleach without asking. Rather she worked with me, showing me samples and giving details to help me find a color I love - a red without bleaching - that I think works really well with my complexion.

As an African American woman, it sometimes hard to find someone who specializes with my textured curls. I was in search for a permanent hair stylist. I wanted someone very knowledgeable about curly hair and color treatment. Cocoa surpassed my expectations and was able to explain how to better care for my hair and how she can assist in the future. I plan on making her my go to.

I am a first timer here at Via Valencia! I met with Cocoa and we discussed my hair goals and what I was going for. I was super excited from the start to see her magic with my curls! Especially since I have had bad experiences in the past with other stylists that obviously weren't familiar with my hair type. Cocoa made me feel comfortable and I knew I was in good hands!

Cocoa is amazing! Friendly and adorable, with a positive and calm energy, she makes her clients feel happy and comfortable. I'm so happy with my cut and color by her, she does my hair beautifully. And she has great communication about exactly what I may want, and she also has the ability to help me with her great eye and expertise where I'm not sure. Cocoa has been doing my hair & my daughter’s hair for many years now. She listens to what I want and gives me her honest opinion if it will work for me or not.
