In our lamp repair and restoration department, A Better Shade of Tucson can create and build lamps from almost any object plus perform all general lamp repairs. Went in and the first question was, "Do you have an appointment?" Of course, we didn't and had no idea that we needed an appointment before being "served." We had brought in a lampshade and we wanted something that was just like the one we brought in. She admonished us for not bringing in the lamp. I did show her a picture of the lamp. After she saw the image, she asked us "how much do we want to spend?" We said that we wanted something like we brought in and how much was one that was similar. She finally pulled out a matching shade and told us it was $185. When

I went to get some shades and the lady who works here was absolutely no help and made me feel stupid. You would think she would be kinder considering I am trying to give her business. I tried to show her what I wanted and I didnt have the lamp available to bring in and she told me I should have known.

I went into "A Better Shade" for a replacement lampshade and I got
so much more!! Marisa's customer service is superb! She fixed my lamp that was sorely in need of adjusting and helped me choose the right type of lampshade for my lamp! All of my "lamp needs" will be going to A Better Shade now!!

This is a wonderful shop with a large selection of shades at various price points. The owner has a wealth of knowledge and a design background. She only buys high-quality shades made in the U.S. (She's from Thailand and wants to support U.S. companies.) Be sure to bring your lamp to ensure the right fit. The shade is as important as the lamp; a cheap shade on a nice lamp will ruin the effect. She takes the time to help customers find the perfect match, and then explains how to care for your shade. (I was doing everything wrong!) A great experience.

I have visited this store two times in the last year and both times were bad experiences. The first time I thought the lady who was there was just having a bad day. However, she was even ruder the second time. You aren't allowed to walk around the store! Very strange. She shows you what she wants to show you and don't even think about making a negative comment about her selection!
Her rudeness and shades that are very over priced have made both visits unpleasant experiences!

When I first walked in I knew I was in a lamp place of quality like I had not seen in AZ, only NY and LA. The owner came up to me and corrected me on the way I was holding a shade. As a designer, I pride myself on having the gentlest of touches but to learn an even better way was important. I was ready to purchase but she sent me home to get the lamps and have a real fitting, like with a fine suit or beautiful gown. So, I brought in two lamps instead of one and walked back a very pleased customer with impeccable shades for a Chinese lamp and a mid-century modern lamp. Tied my living room and salon

I had two lamps that needed repair. the first one Marisa repaired while I waited. The second which needed more work was done in 2 days. Very reasonably priced. Easy parking. Marisa has a lot of return customers (the two in front of me when I dropped off the lamp) and I can see why. I will return if I need more repairs.

I was reluctant to rely on "A Better Shade" when I was looking for a lamp repair shop since the reviews on Yelp were mixed; however, I decided to give the business a chance and I'm very happy that I did. We purchased a lamp at a 2nd hand shop and unfortunately, the original shade had gotten damaged. We looked all over for places to get a replacement shade. We found this place. From walking in, the woman was really rude and very snippy. Every question was answered in a scowl. Needless to say, we went elsewhere. We found a place on speedway that was better, had nicer people and had a better selection. Haven't looked back since.

One month ago today we dropped off two lamps to be rewired and converted from UK to US specifications. The owner told us our lamps would be ready for pickup within a week. Two weeks later I called and she said they were not ready and that she would call me when they were. Today, a month later, my wife returned to the store to check on the lamps, and the work had not yet been started. We said thanks, but no thanks, we will take the lamps somewhere else. She didn't care.

Great service and a nice place to get lampshades.
My wife had some antique lamps that were her grandmothers. The shades had gotten old and damaged over the years and moves (50 year old lamps). I wanted to surprise her with some nice shades for them. I took them in and the owner helped me choose the right shades, mounting hardware, and bulbs. The lamps look great.
When I surprised my wife with them she was very happy. I highly recommend A Better Shade. The price was good for what is was but don't expect cheap generically priced shades that you will find at a chain store. Really
