Today, Gurcan Tailor & Dry Cleaners is a family operated business in Palmyra, NY, and Newark, NY. Our story, however, starts across the Atlantic Ocean in Kirsehir, Turkey where my father, Murat Gurcan, started his tailoring mastery. He spent over a decade working closely with an Italian master tailor, where he himself mastered the fine art of tailoring.

At Gurcan Tailor, most of our everyday customers are those who need more basic services like hemming a pair of pants, need a zipper replaced, or a pant of pants to be let out a little bit. No job is too big or too small!

Some alteration services we offer are pants hemming/shortening, pant taking in/out, pant tapper, zipper replacement, zipper repairs, button replacing, shirt alterations, coat alterations, drapes, curtains, boat covers, hunting gear, dress shirts, suit sleeves, suit length, suit shoulder adjustments, leather alterations, all types of formal dresses (wedding, prom, bridesmaid, mother of the bride), all types of everyday dress alterations, and much more.

Over our 35 years of experience in professional tailoring, we have worked on thousands of wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, prom dresses, and every other type of dress that comes to mind. To keep it short - we have done it all! We love working closely with our customers to ensure that their dress (or anything else for that matter) fits them perfectly and comfortably.

Do you ever see anyone who is wearing a nice-looking suit, but it looks like it was made for someone else? Maybe the pants are too long, the jacket sleeves cover their hand, shoulders don't fit right. At Gurcan Tailor we believe if you own a suit, you deserve to have it look custom-fitted to you.

For over our 35-year career, we have worked with thousands of guys and gals to alter suits and tuxedos to make them look custom made- and even made some custom ones ourselves along the way.In fact, the reason that our family even came to the United States was that Murat Gurcan, my father and owner of Gurcan Tailor was one of 18 people out of over 4000 applications to be accepted to work at Hickey Freeman in 2008.

At Gurcan Tailor we clean nearly all household and clothing items (or launder). Like with our tailoring services no job is too big or too small! Our typical turnaround time is about 1 week, but are happy to do rush jobs as well which take 2-3 days in most cases.

Since our shops are 100% family run we strive to have excellent services meaning if we clean something and stains are still present we will try other treatment methods to see if any further removal is possible.Over the last 12 years that we have been in Rochester & Finger Lakes area, we have been offering high-quality dry cleaning services including leather, suede, wedding gowns, and rugs.
