Eatmon Law Firm, PC
You need a compassionate attorney and mediator with the experience to fight for you and your family. We are here for you. Parties who have attorneys typically do not appear in court on the day their divorce is entered; their attorney appears for them in a "summary judgment" proceeding. Spouses who handle the divorce filing themselves, without an attorney, are required to appear in court before the judge.

A successful negotiation between the attorneys of divorcing spouses often ends with the signing of a settlement agreement called a Separation Agreement and Property Settlement ("SAPS"). These binding contracts typically contain all of the settlement terms which the parties must follow.

The adoptive parents locate a child available for adoption without the assistance of an adoption agency. This can be done with the consent of the biological parents or may involve a private termination of parental rights. The spouse of a child's parent seeks to become a legal parent of the child. The stepparent and parent must be married for at least six (6) months prior to being eligible to initiate a stepparent adoption.
Determining the amount and duration of financial support owed to a spouse who is "dependent" on the other spouse (typically because there is a significant disparity in the parties' incomes) is one of the most challenging aspects of divorce to resolve. In North Carolina, there are no guidelines for determining spousal support.
Alternative dispute resolution (ADR) allows clients to resolve disputes outside the courtroom in an attempt to avoid the uncertainty and expense of litigation. If negotiations between lawyers and/or the parties to the conflict do not result in a resolution, mediation and arbitration are additional options.

Going through a divorce is the most stressful and draining situation I have ever been through. Unfortunately on top of the stress of a broken marriage, I had to deal with a lawyer that was absent for over a year. I have come in contact with 7 different lawyers over the last 7 years (via personal experience and through situations dealing with friends) and every situation has seemed to be extremely frustrating and/or a disaster. I began to wonder if there were any lawyers existing that had ethics and morals. Is there any lawyer that actually does care about my kids or myself or is it just a transition

I am a practicing family law attorney and have used Chris as a mediator, as well as had cases in which she was the opposing attorney. Her professionalism is unparalleled. She always conducts herself with the utmost integrity and is a great advocate.
As a mediator, her knowledge of the law and local Judges stances on particular issues makes her an asset to both sides. She is patient and kind with all of the parties and works hard to help the parties work through their issues to a resolution.

Ms. Eatmon has always handled my divorce/family and child custody affairs fairly and objectively. My experience has been that even though things may not go as I have liked them, Ms. Eatmon did her job, kept me informed and lived up to the integrity of her reputation. Her direct approach is fresh and a nice change from getting the runaround. I did not feel that my money was wasted. Anyone who gives her a bad review is probably just disgruntled that things didn't go their way and had unrealistic expectations of reality.

Ms. Eatmon eagerly took on my child custody modification case and was positive she would secure a more favorable visitation schedule for me with my children. It was a contentious case so she highly recommended litigation over negotiation as previous attempts at an agreement and mediation were shut down by my ex.
She advised me she should be able to handle the case for the $7500 she required up front for funding the trust account. I was led to believe she would be personally handling my litigation but found after replenishing the trust account for the case to the tune of more than $26,000 she
