Throughout its 50 years in operation, Preschool at the Chapel of the Cross (PCC) has remained a notable part of the Chapel Hill community. Not only does PCC provide quality early childhood education to our incredible students, but we are proud to be the only half-day preschool program in town that offers health insurance benefits to our staff.
The Preschool at the Chapel of the Cross was established in 1971 by two Chapel of the Cross parishioners. The original school was made up of twelve children from nine parishioner families who gathered once a week to learn and grow together. In 1972, the school had a growth spurt and quickly expanded to a weekly, tuition supported preschool serving children up to age three.

The Preschool at the Chapel of the Cross is a warm, inviting, fun, educational environment. The year-round schedule is perfect for parents who need extra flexibility during the summer, and my girls thrived with the continual schedule. PCC, by far, is the keeper of so many wonderful childhood memories for my girls and the source of lifelong friendships. Simply the best.

Such a wonderful preschool! The atmosphere/environment, staff, teachers, facility and location make it hard to beat. The year-round/flexible schedule (you can choose between 2, 3 or 5 half-days/week) make it particularly attractive to modern family schedules. I only have had great experiences with this school and highly recommend it.

An excellent year-round, half-day preschool for ages 2-5 (2s, 3s, and 4s) with class offerings of 2, 3, or 5 days per week. Classes are 4 hours long (8:15-12:15), compared to most local preschools which are only 3 hours long. That extra hour and being year round is amazing and sets PCC above all in my book! The teachers are so caring, creative, and thoughtful. Communication is excellent IMO. Each class has 2 dedicated teachers and 10, 14, or 15 students. Located in Franklin Street but never really had much issue with traffic. Next to Morehead Planetarium and Coker Arboretum makes walking fieldtrips
