Don, the owner, is an interesting character. The location is good, but the owners are not very inviting and neither are the accommodations.

I made an impulse decision to stay here (from the backcountry in Itasca I already booked) after bears had been confirmed. The tent site I had was large and tucked under trees. A bucket of firewood was legit a bobcat bucket not a 5 gallon bucket. The resort is quirky, for sure, but it reminds me of the family
-run campgrounds if my childhood in a friendly way. It's not a polished Hilton resort so adjust your standards accordingly. The resort is close to Itasca and neighboring parks. I found cell service to be unreliable in the area at large so bring a reliable map. Heads up, it's a cash-only establishment

Just the most beautiful lake in Mn. Helen and Don will do whatever it takes to make your stay great.

Fantastic resort and campground! We enjoyed waking up to the tranquil views over Bad Medicine Lake. Also pleasantly surprising - a $10 bucket of firewood delivered means you're getting a bobcat bucket's worth, not a painter's bucket

These people are jerks. Junky resort. Junk everywhere. There comes a time when people need to retire. The owners have long reached that time. The lake is beautiful, the trees are gorgeous. It’s simply the owners that will ruin this experience for you.

Lake is beautiful. Campground is straight out of the 70's. Junk everywhere. There is stuff nailed to trees randomly (dirt bikes, tires, dolls everywhere) very creepy and weird. Reminded me of a cult horror movie setting. It may be fun and crafty for the owners but odd and messy to everyone else. The campsites/RV sites seem like they were put anywhere they could find enough land. Very narrow roads through the resort so you hope you don't run into someone coming the opposite way. Buildings are in need of some serious attention. Place could be a goldmine if it was under different management or bought

The church is worth checking out if your spending a lot of time on the lake and looking for morning snacks. Overall the whole place feels messy with lots of junk strewn everywhere. Some of the trails and roads can be very primitive.

Love the place. The fishing is great and the lake is crystal clear. Camp grounds are clean and the bathrooms are very clean. The owners are like family to anyone who stay's here.
