I would echo what many have said. They were very nice to deal with. I would also like to echo the review regarding cost. Over the course of my representation, I was billed 4x my original retainer amount. We never went to trial nor stood before any judge. To be fair, I was no charged and rebated a non-insignificant sum on top of what I was billed. There were obviously reasons I was rebated and no charged. I personally feel like I am in no better legal position than I was before retaining them. My experience with this firm has led me to feel that I could have received far better legal outcomes for

Bill and team really are the best. While my very high-conflict divorce was finalized six years ago, my ex continued to drag us back to court over minutia every year since then; that is when I hired Bill.
At ever corner, Bill had my children's best interest in mind. Any advice he gave me, was prefaced with "What is going to be best for your kiddos is..."
Bill has the utmost integrity, is an unflappable professional, he is a genuinely good person, and he is probably also one of the funniest people I know.
I highly recommend Bill and his superstar team.

Jamie and his paralegal Emily handled my divorce with focus and diligence. I could count on them to point to me important subjects that we needed to focus on and were ready to tell me honestly and in plain English what I needed to be ready for. They were reliable and punctual. It was my first experience with the attorney and it was a very good one.

Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness
While I didn't have a contentious divorce, I sincerely appreciated the ease of discussing my priorities with Bill, Jamie and Emily and guidance through the process. I'm also thankful for smooth process in getting the proceedings wrapped up in an expedited manner.

The Powers and Kerr firm was my life line. The team is amazing and attentive. And while I was going through the most difficult transition in my life, they always bought humor and smiles to the process. While this process is very common, your own situation has nuances that only this office can guide you through it all. So grateful for their expertise.

Always friendly and willing to listen, Bill handled a stressful situation with a positive attitude and was able to deliver the results I was looking for. I highly recommend Bill for family law.

Regardless of circumstances, there is nothing good about divorce, or fun about it by any means. That said, Jamie and his team were exceptional every step of the way and I would recommend him without a doubt. He had patience with me as I navigated a difficult divorce situation and ensured I was fully informed of my options and rights throughout the process.

When I decided to move through it all in the most financially responsible way, he was able to provide advice that kept money in my pocket instead of extra legal fees for either party.

Jamie was great to work with, and Emily, his paralegal

I hired Bill to help with a modification to my current custody agreement. I did my due diligence and received consultations from three different well known attorneys in town. Bill was the only one who clearly laid out facts and scenarios for me to contemplate. His experience is also what sold me--and it showed when we finally made it into the court room. I worked with him on a mediation case and then we ended up going to court for a violation to the outcome of the new custody arrangement. Both times I feel that I won--and recovered some of my attorney's fees as well. Best case scenario with

Bill is one of the most respected and reputable lawyers in Travis and surrounding counties. I’ve not only had the privilege to work with him but also having him as a mentor throughout my legal career. I would highly recommend Bill to anyone looking for a lawyer who can handle complex property division, custody litigation as well as a mediator for high conflict family law cases.

I have had the privilege of working with this law firm for the last 7 years with my child custody case. I will never use another attorney in Austin Texas. They are trustworthy, honest, extremely hard working not to mention knowledgeable and well known in the legal community.. Truly one of a kind. I also would like to comment on the staff. Throughout the long battle I have never encountered an attorney or there staff who do not exemplify excellence. They are fabulous and I’m so grateful to have them to answer all my questions.

My custody case took almost 2 years which involved two other attorneys before I found Bill ending in a successful judgement after an all day trial. Bill and his right hand person, Chris, were masterful. I didn't always understand his advice along the way but looking back everything he advised and did was perfect. Bill Powers is hands down the BEST family law firm in the Austin area!

Bill was tough, but not at the jugular. He was strategic at what to use at deposition, and what to save for any future judge or trial. He's smart. He knows judges and other lawyers and knows how to play the game well. He was honest about what was fluff evidence and what was damning. There were times when my case/appointments were pushed back for larger cases and others' court dates - standard I guess for a small firm. He'll fight for the best deal he can get.

Beware of being billed for far more hours than you requested.
If you have a smaller task such as reviewing an existing prenup draft, I’d steer clear of this office and find an attorney who will do the work for a flat fee you negotiate ahead of time. I am sure there are options for local attorneys that are far more above board about their costs and that will follow your requests.
I worked with Jamie Kerr on reviewing an existing prenup that my fiancee’s attorney had drafted. I had already reviewed the agreement myself and we had gone through a few revisions with my fiancee’s attorney before
