The Sweeney family has been dedicated to providing service and comfort for families since the early 1900's. After arriving from Ireland, John Sweeney started a horse drawn funeral livery business located in Bayonne on West 12th street. He expanded this bussiness to include his two sons John and James (Jim) Sweeney, who became licensed funeral directors.
The Funeral home moved to its current location at 857 Kennedy boulevard in 1947. Following the death of of the founder and his son John, the business continued to be run by Jim(until 1960) and his son James Jr, "Jay"( until 1990). Today Jay's daughter, Margaret J. Sweeney NJ Lic. No. 3919 owns and runs this 4th generation family business, while her husband John continues to runs the funeral livery business.

We accept NJ Medicaid and offer CHOICES, a prepaid trust fund for families needing long term care. Traditionally, depending on the cultural and religious protocol, the body of the deceased is at the service.
