Braces have been used to transform smiles for over 120 years. Recent technological advances in the design and material of braces make them a more gentle and efficient treatment option than ever before. These braces are created from a single crystal of pure grown sapphire - one of the hardest materials in nature, second only to diamond.
After completion of orthodontic treatment, every patient needs retainers to keep your bite in place and prevent teeth from regressing back to their previous position. Retainers are customized for each patient. Hawley retainers are made with a metal wire surrounding front teeth and acrylic covering palate/gum part.
We provide treatment for the whole family and make transitions across types of care seamless. No matter your stage of life, we have the experience and knowledge to provide expert treatment that takes all your needs into consideration. Phase 1 treatment addresses orthodontic issues that young children, typically between the ages of six and ten may experience before they have their permanent teeth.
Palatal expansion is used to correct upper and lower jaw width problems (crossbites) or can help to reduce crowding in abnormally narrow arches by broadening the upper jaw. Since the expansion aims at jaw bone and allows new bone to grow, the best timing of expansion is at younger age when the expansion result can be most efficient and stable.
We offer professional teeth whitening service to our patients after the orthodontic treatment. Chairside in-office treatment: apply high concentration 30% hydrogen peroxide (HF) to whiten the teeth in a safe, sensitivity free and comfortable process in under an hour.

I highly recommend Dr. Lai for anyone who is seeking orthodontic treatment in the bay area. She and her team are amazing! My daughter's teeth were a little challenging and working with Dr. Lai and her team was extremely easy, even during Cov-id. She had previously been treated by a very popular Orthodontist in Albany (hint, rhymes with "wrong") where the office was constantly overcrowded and we were repeatedly told "she was not ready" for treatment. This was in contradiction to what her Dentist had recommended and when I brought it up, I was shamed by the Orthodontist as "she was the expert" :

I want to take a moment to thank Dr Lai. I am currently under orthodontic treatment with a dr in Walnut Creek, and was not satisfied with the progress. So I made an appointment for the consultation in Sep to seek second opinion. Dr Lai was very patient and knowledgeable to give me couple suggestions so I can go back to talk to my current orthodontist. I recently finished Invisalign treatment with Dr. Lai and want to share how much I appreciated Dr. Lai's care and professionalism. I was so happy with my consult for invisilign with Dr. Lai.
1) I felt extremely safe with the setting considering the covid pandemic. I had my temperature check and was given hand sanitizer before sitting in the chair. Appointments are scheduled so there is only 1 patient in the office at a time.
2) Dr. Lai clearly knew what she was doing. Not only did she ask what I was looking for on a cosmetic standpoint, she also mentioned what needed to be done from a dental hygiene standpoint.

I came in with my daughter for a consultation. Dr. Lai and her assistant were very pleasant. The office is very modern, super nice, clean and patient chairs are spaced out not like others ortho offices. Due to COVID-19, I find this orthodontics office perfect hygienically and for social distancing. If we weren’t going to relocate soon to Southern California, I would choose Dr. Lai and her office for our ortho needs. Highly recommend!

We found Dr. Lai through our insurance (Delta Dental PPO) because I wanted to get a in-network quote for my sons braces. I couldn't find a lot of information on her but went ahead and booked a consultation and am so happy I did!
