Arya Bhavan
This is what "Arya Bhavan" means. It's an invitation to be part of our Chicago Community of vegan, gluten-free, and raw food lovers. Our goal is to be not only one of the best vegan restaurants in Chicago but also the healthiest. Almost all of our recipes are available gluten-free and our selection of raw food options continues to grow.

Our dishes are made with whole foods, plant-based ingredients that contain no GMOs, no MSG, no artificial flavors or preservatives, low sodium, no sugar or refined flour, no saturated fats, and very little oil. It's a great pleasure to hear people say they feel better when they eat our food and we hope that's the experience you, too, are going to have at Arya Bhavan.
Services
All our dishes are 100% vegan. All are gluten-free or can be ordered gluten-free unless otherwise specified. The few dishes on our menu that are gluten-free or contain allergens are prepared in a separate kitchen to avoid cross-contamination. Let the server know if you have any specific dietary restriction.
We are always working to offer a menu of both authentic Indian recipes and new fusion dishes. But there is more to food than just amazing flavors. Vegan doesn't automatically equate to healthy. There is plenty of junk vegan food out there.but not at Arya Bhavan. We are committed to preparing food with real, fresh, and natural ingredients that are nutritiously balanced.
Looking for healthy food to serve at your parties or large events? With 10 years of experience at Taste of Chicago, Arya Bhavan offers vegan catering services all over the city. Our menu includes raw, gluten-free and other allergen-free dishes to satisfy any dietary needs. We can serve any event from 10 to 3,000 attendees, any day of the week.
Do you want to learn the secret benefits of Ayurvedic Indian spices and how to use them to make your meals healthier and tastier?. All classes held at Arya Bhavan restaurant with proper social distancing and safety precautions. Proof of vaccination required. Vegan by birth, Chef Kirti is the heart of Arya Bhavan.
We are happy to contribute to an ever larger community of people in Chicago who care about their health and strive to achieve balance of mind, body, and spirit. Being healthy is a process, a journey that never ends and takes a lot of effort. That's why we keep working hard to make it as easy as possible for you to reach your wellness goals, regardless of how busy or utterly crazy your life can get.

The two stars is being generous because of Jay's hard work!!! (He was THE ONLY personnel in the restaurant, no kidding!!)😳
We made reservations and confirmed 2x with the OWNER!! When we arrived, (8 of us for dinner, we were the ONLY patrons on a Friday night). 😯Once inside, the owner demanded proof of vaccines: which we happen to have and masks. 😷NO problem. She acted surprised, irritated and hurried.
She took our orders (which we had to do off of their website because she didn't have menus) and informed us she had to GO..😡 SHE LEFT WITH HER FRIEND & LOCKED US IN. There was NO ONE

Wouldn't recommend if you came looking at the amazing menu and pictures on their website. It is deciet at its best. I don't know when those pictures were clicked. Probably when the restaurant opened and there was an actual chef.
Terrible desert(was frozen when I took it. Clearly shows when it was made). Vegetable Tofu thingy in the menu I ordered to break even using a credit card was abysmal that I took away all the veggies and roasted some cashews at home, added them to the dish and consumed it, only because I didn't want to throw food.

Underappreciated gem in Chicago. They pay attention to ingredient quality- lots of organic ingredients. The food is vegan but not junk food vegan like most Chicago restaurants, actual healthy vegan. And they even have some raw food options too. The raw food cake is so good with a unique Indian flare. The dishes are mostly gluten free and they even have gluten free samosas. Awesome for shabbas dinner delivery and if you want meat just add kosher organic meat.

Arya Bhavan means Welcome Home.
Excellent food.
We had the appetizers mixed basket the lentil soup and the Eggplant entree.
Wonderful flavors that hit your palate.
Totally amazing food and atmosphere. Kirti the chef and owner was super attentive. She shared her story of her restaurant and you could feel her passion for it. She even grows many of her own herbs.
Definitely will go back. She also offers cooking classes which I plan to sign-up.

Very bad welcome by the attender. They made us wait outside the door for nearly 15 mins even upon prior booking . The lady came out and literally yelled saying we are busy and if you can’t wait just leave . That’s not the way to treat a customer after confirming the reservation. She should better learn to treat customers

Had such a great experience at Arya Bhavan! The gentleman serving us was very polite and attentive. As a vegan and a Rogers Park native, this will be one of my go-to spots. FYI—all the food is vegan! The menu is very diverse and large. There was also vegan wine (although I noticed not all the wines were actually vegan, so be careful). It’s also BYOB, so I’ll be bringing my own alcohol next time.

Oh my god- this restaurant is amazing. The owner is so kind! I am sad I didn't find this restaurant sooner. They do low oil options, all vegan, and most of their menu is gluten free.

We had gluten free samosas and they were awesome. The chutneys were some of the best I've had anywhere.

We also had their malai kofta and it was awesome- really well spiced and creamy (from cashew cream!) and palak dal. The dal was awesome- tastes like the kind my husband's grandma makes!

They even have gluten free roti made in the tandoor.

We ended the meal with awesome chai made with soy milk

Had a fantastic dinner and nearly had the whole restaurant to ourselves do to them being very cautious on covid. I would highly highly recommend. Not only is everything vegan, but it's cooked very well with a level of spice I found quite enjoyable. It's not the ghee overloaded kings food that's so common in Indian restaurants but more a home cooked style that's hard to find. I hope they're open for many years to come!

Wow! Such flavorful, fresh and healthy food. Every dish satisfied and impressed us. This is a go-to Indian place for vegetarians and vegans. The owner is so personable and sweet. She was hauling a** making her business work during the COVID pandemic....a truly wonderful soul. Go here!

I have never had vegetarian Indian food, but my friend is vegan & has a gluten allergy so we decided to try this place. Their naan was amazing! I ordered the rice with fried cauliflower & broccoli which was delicious & spicy.

I am not giving them 5 stars because my friend who is vegan & gluten free didn't enjoy any of the food. :(

HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT today! I walked in excited to try the vegan and gluten free items. I check out the buffet and notice there is barely any food in the trays. There was about 2 other tables with guests so the place was not packed. But there was only 1 server. She seemed nice, but provided poor customer service. When I told her I do not want the buffet and would like to order off the menu, she said that most of the menu items are in the buffet and sat me at my table. I found this to be a lie as there were too many items on the menu to be a part of that small buffet. Seemed like she knew the cook

The first clue that this wouldn't go well was when there were only three tables of diners (including us) on a Saturday night at 7:30.

Despite that, it took far too long to get our orders in and even longer to get served. Our dalvada was hard as a rock, dry and bland. My bhindi masala literally tasted like nothing--as if not even the hint of seasoning passed the general vicinity of the dish. My girlfriend also said her raw Indian pizza was bland. Mind you, it took over 30 minutes after taking our order for us to get food that looked and tasted like no thought went into cooking it. At a time

GF appetizers are good, and a real treat. Entrees are only ok at best, not very flavorful and not spicy either. Veggies were a bit mushy. The food takes quite a bit of time for them to prepare, so be prepared to wait even if you're the only one there. Wished the flavors, texture, and quality of the food was better. Even the rice is not very good quality (including the brown rice). I was disappointed.

Worst food! worst response from Aarthi! they dont care for what they serve, all they need is you to just pay for whatever they serve. We ordered dosa (it was so sour like old batter) and malai kofta and naan for take away while they served the dosa, we asked Aarthi to cancel the food while we they served the first dish itself. They were not willing to at any point of time.

And only the workers cant cancel without the owner's permission since owner wasnt there!
No compensation if you dont like the food.

I have been to other vegan restaurants haven't ate anything so bizzare. Worst

Good place to go if you are looking for organic/vegan food. They are very allergy aware and claim to have a separate kitchen. Taste of food was not to my liking your mileage may vary. Beer they served was warm. One of the few places I have seen that has gluten free samosas.

Horrible!
Ordered a takeout!
We had ordered a paneer makhani
Instead got a stale tofu curry!
Dal bunzara -- was a barely tempered dal with no taste what so ever
The garlic naan which is charged higher than the other restaurants was half baked which meant had to come home and grill it in the oven !!!!
Never ordering again !

This was my first time to Arya Bhavan and I love this place! I signed up for an Intro to Indian Vegan cooking class and it was so much fun! I learned how to make two different types of soup, Uppma and coconut macaroons. Only $50 for the 2hr class, plus I received a Education on the different types of health benefits from spices. I also got to try their food as well!

I highly recommend Arya Bhavan, for both their cooking classes and for their food!!!

Don't order delivery. 2 hours late, tasteless. I have a joke that too many people sit down at a restaurant and immediately ask, "this isn't too spicy is it?" The sort of people who tell the waiter they have a gluten allergy when they don't, and the waiter breaks out in a panic because the customer just ate an appetizer full of gluten and nobody's dialing 911. Sigh.

I was almost excited when I saw a stem in my curry- maybe it was a single pepper! Nope, just a bay leaf. This would be fine if I was ordering Chicken Noodle Soup. Not so fine in a curry. There's better
