There are "bare minimums" that the state requires during an inspection and a lot of other inspection companies operate based on these minimums. But those minimums are a far cry from what a great inspection should be and, as a result, significant concerns are usually left off the "cheap" inspectors report.

Jay was our home inspector assigned to us for our property my wife and I just put an offer on. He was not only very friendly, but wanted to hear our thoughts and encouraged us to follow him and ask any questions we had. He was also very thorough while inspecting the house which I appreciated. I needed an 11 month warranty inspection on a new build we purchased. I called Home Key Insp and they were able to get me quickly scheduled. The inspector Jorge Carrillo (Jay) came by to inspect my house spending 4 hours. Very professional, knowledgeable in performing a very detailed inspection. He allowed me to follow him around pointing out issues/concerns along with several recommendations on how to fix said issues. Make sure you use HomeKey Inspections for your home inspection, radon testing or leak detection. It's the best home inspection company that I have worked with. The appointment was quick and they are very responsive. The inspector Sebastian Aste showed up on time even though it was raining. His inspection was thorough, detailed, and he explained to me what he was doing at every step. He caught many issues of the condo, small and big. At the end, we discussed about the issues. I took note of all the issues that I care more about. He sent the report in their promised timeframe which was before 9 pm the following day. And the report was very detailed. We wanted to thank our inspector Mike Lawson from HomeKey Inspections for spending around 4.5 hours at our new property and go through the nook and corner of our home to find out the existing issues. Mike went on top of the roof to inspect the roof despite it being very difficult to get on top of a 3 storied building. I hired HomeKey Inspections and Ian for my pre-drywall inspection for a new construction and was I so impressed! Ian was so thorough, extremely professional, and very knowledgeable. Don't usually leave reviews, but I do use Yelp and other services to look into businesses when I am shopping around. I am writing this because Darren with HomeKey went above and beyond to accommodate me in my new house inspection. The builder dropped the ball and some rearrangements had to be made for Darren to comeback on a different day on a short notice - Darren was able to do just that. We wanted the best of the best and to inspect our new home, and after seeing the results we can certainly say that we did. Darren did a thorough inspection of our newly constructed home and found over 40 issues! some of which were serious safety hazards! He sent us a 42 page PDF the same day with pictures and clear explanations for each issue, and recommended action to fix it. He was very respectful and patient whenever we had a question, and made sure that we understood everything. As a first time home buyer, this was especially helpful.

While being a first time home buyer I could not have been more pleased with Darren's service. Darren is an ASHI Certified inspector (ACI). ASHI Certified inspectors set a higher standard for professional home inspectors. It guarantees their professionalism, field experience and continuing education requirements. Darren arrived earlier and performed a very thorough inspection. Learned a lot of useful information during the inspection. He took his time and explained in detail to us items that we should be concerned about. I recently had Home Key Inspections complete a private inspection of my new build. I was extremely pleased with the professional service. Lots of great information /explanation in the report, clear color photos and even recommendations for correction / improvements to make the home better, meet or exceed standards. When I met with my contractor for my walk-through, he commented on how well and thorough he found the private inspection report. The inspector found things they had missed, and certainly things I would not have been able to assess or realize it was not OK. Just plan ahead for timing
