Dolan Uyghur Restaurant
The Uyghur way of life is now at a crossroads. One path leads to cultural preservation and dignity for the Uyghur people. The other path is less than certain. At Dolan Uyghur Restaurant, we are committed to preserving what we can - the food and flavor of Uyghur culture. We do so by serving our customers brilliant meals prepared in distinctive, central Asian style.

From Hot chicken stew to Laghman, handmade noodles to handmade dumplings, every dish is prepared by our chef who thoroughly understands that delicious food is at the heart of traditional Uyghur life. We have long inhabited this vast region of snow-capped mountains, winding rivers, blue-green lakes, lush oases, and scorching deserts.

The food tastes all right and I completely get it when people say they are delicious and special. However, having been to Xinjiang myself, I know it is not quite that authentic. There dishes rely somewhat too much on the sauces (and the red bell peppers), which often provides a sweet/sour flavor that covers the original flavor of the ingredients. Even if you only know a bit about Middle Eastern food, you know they don't make these complicated meshed-up dishes.
The service was not good. We went to there in late Jan., and I don't know why they didn't turn the heat up. We all felt cold inside and

Overall, the quality of the food was not impressive. Every dish we ordered was good, but it was like there could be something to be improved with it. The veggies included in the pearled noodle dish didn’t seem to match so well, the lamb kebab seemed to be a little overcooked, and the pumpkin dumplings were definitely just square cuts of butternut squash in a dumpling wrapper. The dessert also didn’t taste super fresh.
Service was very slow as well, even though they were not very busy in terms of the restaurant itself being packed.
It was good but I wouldn’t come back just because none of

I was here on my day trip to DC. We were looking for a place that serves Halal food within Connecticut Avenue. We found this place, and was not disappointed. Amazing Halal food in D.C.

Delicious! Came here with a group of friends and shared multiple dishes in order to taste more things, since we had never had Uyghur cuisine before. They were able to seat the 7 of us promptly for an early dinner. (~4:45)
I highly recommend the korma chop and the hot chicken stew. We ordered all dishes medium heat and were not spicy, though incredibly flavorful. We had a mix of vegetarians and meat eaters in our group and everyone left happy. Overall, glad to have expanded my horizons to Uyghur cuisine.

Ambiance is great. It took the waiter about 15min to take our order but the food came very quick. The food was good but lacked flavor. The spring rolls were microwaved and nothing special, tasted like the one you buy from Costco. Uyghur Salad was great and had a real special taste but the portion was small for the price. The meat Samsa tasted great but was microwaved. The Korma chop tasted great but the noodles were a bit chewy. The signature rice noodle was great but didn't have a lot of noodles and was swimming in sauce.
The Dolan Chay tasted really nice and the desert Baklava and Kataifi

I finally tried Dolan and loved it! I'm a vegetarian, and so far everything I have tried (tofu laghman, fried eggplant, fried tofu, kawa samsa) has been wonderful. Flavorful but not spicy. The Dolan Chay is also stellar. I do not usually like flavored teas or tisanes, but i'll down this stuff by the pot.

While the food is new to me, it has the quality of comfort food, with incredibly friendly service to match. I think I will come back again and again when I just want a good meal.

I love this place with all my heart. No bad dishes. Apologies for the lack of pictures. The lighting inside isn't the best for food pics and I also kept devouring food before remembering the photos for Yelp. Plus it's Halal!

I first came acquainted with this place via catering about 2 years back. I really liked the eggplant a lot them. I came back and dined outside in April 2021 after winning a gift card online and have been back once since in December. The owner is super kind and the staff is funny and sweet. The waiter took me and my friends jokes about the Chocolate Baklava being

Wow. This is one of DC's crown jewels of ethnic dining. You've likely never had Uyghur food before, which means you're in for a once-in-a-lifetime treat. Because of the Uyghurs' geography in far-west China, their cuisine combines Asian ingredients like hand-pulled noodles with out-of-this world Middle Eastern and Turkic flavors. The Korma Chop and Laghman are must orders along with a French press of homemade tea.

Bottom line: Delicious! I regrettably don't have photos because I was too busy eating the food.

Dolan Uyghur is a gem. It appears to be family owned and the warm service certainly makes you feel like it is. The food is halal so excellent to take friends who stick to halal diet here.

My favorites:

Big plate chicken: This is a must for your table. It is a famous Uyghur dish of tender chicken in spices with potatoes and served atop thick homemade noodles - the description here doesn't do it justice - trust me!

Korma chop: Wonderful spicy Uyghur noodles with vegetables and your choice

We specially stopped in Washington for the Uyghur restaurant, but unfortunately we were disappointed. The dishes are strongly Americanized, the waiter does not understand the Uyghur cuisine at all, the chiefs are Indonesians.
Complete disappointment.

I'd heard good things about this place from a friend of mine, so when I drove by on coincidence at dinnertime and saw the great reviews on Google I thought - perfect!
I could not have been more wrong, and I feel terrible saying it. I love Chinese food, having grown up with it as my mom is Chinese. I've been to almost all the Chinese restaurants with 4+ stars in the DC-VA area and always enjoy the food, even when it's not great. I've never once given a bad review.
But this food was bad. The meat quality was poor and the taste was bad. As a party of two, we ordered about 5 items, including appetizers

The vibe of this place is relaxing, gracious. Dishes are made to order and that's A-okay with me.

Some of the menu offerings are fairly spicy; I'm glad that my waiter recommended the milder versions rather than going with the high heat. Although this cuisine is new to my palate, there are flavors shooting through that are familiar.

The entree called korma chop, a stir-fry dish made with hand pulled noodles, is quite good. I got mine with lamb, but there are other possibilities. Goshnan is unique, a bit like pizza or savory pie. It's enormous and tasty but chewy. I wanted to get

I had been wanting to try this place for the longest time. My first time having Uyghur food as well. I'm definitely glad I gave it a try. I liked the korma chop noodles. Good flavor. I liked it better than the laghman. We also got the goshnan. It was very unique with the sour cream. I found the hot lettuce in it a bit interesting. The dumplings tasted very similar to the goshnan. So I would probably just order one of the two. We also tried the tea. Very medicinal taste. The service was fine but I wish our waitress was more knowledgeable on the menu. They also seem to have a fruit fly issue

For the first time in my life I've been able to try Uyghur food. It was so worth it! I have the Korma noodles which were excellent and chewy and full of flavor. I like it spicy but if you like it only a little bit spicy, I would recommend getting the mild. My friend had the Kawa Goshnan which was more like a vegetarian pie and it was also excellent and full of flavor. This place was very warm and very friendly. It was like coming home to a warm house. Overall a great atmosphere and would definitely return in a heartbeat! The British waiter was also very nice and helpful.

We ordered a few items for take out. The food was obviously freshly made, and still hot even when we got home. Everyone was also very kind when ordering and picking up.

I forgot to take pictures because we were starving! But we got the korma chop, piter manta, and the signature noodles. We liked the korma chop the most! The only thing is, the portions were a bit small for the price.

We'll definitely return for a delicious meal and the kind staff!

Had a great time at Dolan Uyghur tonight, we informed the waiter that we were in hurry to catch a flight when we walked in and the entire staff was very accommodating. Overall, service was outstanding.

We ordered the hot chicken stew, green beans, Korma Chop, and Mom's Laghman. The hot chicken stew was delicious, chicken was tender and flavorful and the noodles were amazingly thick and carried the flavors of the stew well. The green beans had a good blend of spices but I wish they were more crunchy. The Korma Chop had delicious noodles and the lamb was seasoned to perfection. The Mom&apos

The star is giving to the service, the waiter is very friendly and polite.
Food is not good at all, I ordered 大盘鸡 (big late stewed chicken) and rice noodles (their signature) , basically same sauce - very salty and a bit sweet for everything! Noodles come with the stew was supposed to be their highlight, but it was soggy, no texture at all. I thought it might be it was soaked in the chicken stew for too long, I ordered extra noodles - it was same.
I am an international student here, it's the first time I came to know a Uyghur restaurant ,
I come from Xi'an, China where many Uyghurs

While I was looking for an Uyghur restaurant to try out, this place seemed to be the best so naturally, I decided to go with it.

Food - Okay, the Royal Laghman is decent, and the Korma Chop with beef (normal selection) is pretty good. The tea is okay too, and they also give you a baklava.

Service - Bad. I asked for a Korma Chop with lamb, but they gave it to me with beef, and while trying to make it up and giving me a free fixed version, they again gave me the wrong one with beef instead of lamb.

Parking - Hard to find, but doable.

Overall, this place is decent.

Ordered the Pearl noodles which were yummy. Comes in a giant plate. The flavor was light yet flavorful. Also had the Kazan (lamb) kebabs which came in similar sauce as the noodles. Would have loved to try out more dishes for variety! We sat outside and they have nice shaded tables with cool half umbrellas. They are literally located right next to the metro so the escalator wall is blocking some of the street noise. However, DC summertime means mosquito season so we were bitten all over while eating.

+1 for friendly staff.

I've talked about Uyghur food before and I'm about to talk about it again but this time in the DC area.

DC along with NYC is one of the few places that has uyghur food and @dolan_dc was the restaurant we tried it and man it was delicious.

At Dolan my favorite dish was the korma chop, similar to the laghman but I think I might prefer it let's break down why:
1. The noodles: the noodles here are hand pulled and have an awesome slightly chewy consistency, the difference here is that the noodles are pan fried making it a little less saucey
2. The meat: the lamb here is pan fried as

The food is AMAZING and delicious, and I am so glad we have this gem in the neighborhood. This is our favorite go-to restaurant in the area. Everything we’ve had from here is delicious, but my favorites would be the pearled noodles, korma chop, string beans and kawa goshnan.
We’ve been getting takeout from here a lot in the past year, and have never been disappointed. Dining in was also a great experience, and all of our friends that we took there loved it. Super accessible too, right next to the Cleveland Park metro.

I was reading an article in the Atlantic Magazine written by Anne Applebaum, wherein she mentions this restaurant in Woodley Park and decided I would have lunch there that same day.

I had seen various Uyghur restaurants in the District but chose this one to take my dive into Uyghur cuisine as it is mentioned in the article. THe Uyghur are Muslims that live in Xinjiang Province in China and are Turkic in origin. The Chinese government has embarked on genocide against the Uyghur, with forced labor camps, forced sterilization, family separations, and re-education camps. They are relentlessly persecuted

Special in every way. A lovely setting to get together with friends and enjoy good food that's not available everywhere. I'm a noodle lover so the Korma Chop with chicken was perfect for me. The fried eggplant was my friend's favorite, delicious and beautiful to look at. Dolan chat, an organic tea, ended the wonderful meal. Sadly, because the portions we're so large, there was no room for dessert. Located a few steps from the Cleveland Park Metro. Easy to get to and very affordable.
