The law firm of Somers, Robb and Robb was founded by the late B. H. (Brice Henderson) Turner in the spring of 1885 in Newton, Kansas. He was the first local attorney to practice with college education requirements. He trained many of the area's young lawyers in the early years and became the Dean of the Harvey County Bar Association, serving as its President from 1917 until his death in 1940.
The firm is engaged in general practice and handles matters in most areas of the law. If you have an issue in an area that we do not practice in we'll be happy to refer you to other counsel. Frequently you'll find us focusing on business related matters, estate planning and taxation, school law, family law (divorce, child custody and support) and litigation.
John's practice is concentrated in estate planning, including wills, trusts, estate tax and probate and he also handles many business-related matters in the legal arena for clients. An active school attorney, John has distinguished himself in the area of school finance litigation and negotiations as well as day-to-day advice for school administrators and Boards.
This is a law office. The matters that you bring to this law office are often highly sensitive. In order to properly represent you, it is very important that you feel free to fully discuss all aspects of your matter with us. Accordingly, all discussions with us will be held in strictest confidence.
In its simple form, estate planning deals with how to pass property to someone else when you die. There are several methods and we will outline them here. These methods are all separate and independent of each other. This is not intended to be an exhaustive outline and there are always exceptions to all rules.

Poor excuse for leagal advice!! I had seeked advice from Joe Robb regarding a family law issue. (My son's father came looking for custody after 3 years of being absent from his life...my son had never even met him). Mr. Robb pushed for mediation to try to "get along" with the father, even though I didn't feel like my son would be safe at his father's house. When I told Mr. Robb that I didn't want to do mediation, he told me I could "hire a different lawyer" even though he knew I could barely afford HIS fees. He is a BAD lawyer...if you want decent representation, you'd be better off doing it your
