It's similar to a regular savings account in that you earn interest on the money you're putting aside. But, it yields at a higher interest rate than a savings account. A Money Market Account provides an additional benefit: the convenience of writing a check which draws from the account itself. The Money Market account is tiered to allow you to decide where, when, and how to invest your money.
UTFCU offers a variety of convenient savings account options that help you reach your goals. Saving is made simple at UT Federal Credit Union. Open a Primary Savings Account with just a $5 deposit and start earning competitive dividends when you keep a minimum daily balance of $200.00, which are paid out quarterly.
A Share Certificate is the credit union version of a Certificate of Deposit (CD). It's an account you deposit money into for a certain period of time. That money then earns dividends over that period. Your funds are fully insured by the federal government (NCUA) up to $250,000 so your money is safe and sound while the dividends compound every quarter.
A Health Savings Account (HSA) is a tax-advantaged savings product that offers a different way for consumers to pay for their health care. HSA's enable members to pay for current health expenses and save for future qualified medical and retiree health expenses on a tax-free basis. A person must be covered by a high deductible health plan (HDHP) to take advantage of an HSA.

While banking with UTFCU for a little over a year, I was extremely displeased with the service I received. I recently moved to Knoxville and chose this credit union, because there’s this assumption you’ll get friendly, personable service while banking with one. Unfortunately, every time I visited UTFCU, the front desk staff at every branch was extremely impolite. I was accused of forging a check from my father, simply because he forgot to write the date on it. I understand not taking the check, but being treated like I was a scammer was uncalled for.
