Maya Vision Center
I drive an hour from Wellington to go to Maya Vision Center because of the excellent experience that Dr. Maya and his team provide. Best Optometrist in South Florida! Keep in mind that an eye exam is not only to check your vision but also to check the general health of the eye and can be an early detector for other health problems including Hypertension, High Cholesterol and Diabetes.

Every insurance plan offers different vision benefits. The best thing to do is call the office with your insurance information and check your individual eligibility. If you choose glasses or lenses that are valued higher than your plan allows, typically you will pay the difference. Some plans will offer a discount on the difference and other plans like Florida Medicaid do not allow upgrades through the plan benefits.
Services
Dr. Maya graduated with Honors from Nova Southeastern College of Optometry in 1998 and has been providing quality Vision Care to patients at Maya Vision Center in Plantation since 2004. Dr. Maya is a member of the American Optometric Association, Florida Optometric Association, and the Broward County Optometric Association.
Many people may ask why it is necessary for a Contact Lens Exam after a Routine Eye Exam has already determined an accurate prescription for glasses. This is because a Routine Eye Exam will not provide some of the measurements and testing that are required to see if contact lens wear is right for you.
Having an eye exam doesn't just mean getting a new prescription for glasses. At Maya Vision Center you will receive a Comprehensive Eye Exam which includes a checkup of your general Visual Health. During the exam the doctor may use a variety of instruments, shine bright lights directly at your eyes and request that you look through an array of lenses.
Often children need vision correction starting at a very young age. It is recommended that kids should have a complete eye exam by the age of three, and especially by five years old (as they enter kindergarten). At Maya Vision Center we have a selection of glasses specially made for infants and toddlers, as well as a wide range of frames for kids from elementary to young-adults.
Many eyeglass and contact lens wearers may be a candidate for Lasik or other Refractive Surgeries. This is an outpatient procedure performed by an Ophthalmologist. Once the procedure is complete, many patients no longer experience the need to wear corrective eyewear. Before the procedure can take place, the patient must be evaluated to make sure the surgery would be beneficial for them.

This was my first visit to Maya Vision Center. I took notice of the star rating which proved to be not nearly enough - they should get a 10 star rating. I learned so much about my sight from Dr. Maya, he is extremely knowledgeable and like his wife and staff, very friendly. Good visit 👍

Dr. Maya has got to be one of the most genuine and caring people I've had the privilege of meeting. His staff is also accommodating and friendly. He has been my Eye Dr for over ten years, and I couldn't be more satisfied.

I took my daughter here to get her eyes tested. When we got the glasses she was complaining about not being able to see well. I called the office to tell them about it and I was told to bring her in for retesting. Well when we got there, they did not retest her eyes. Instead they said her frames are too big and they adjusted them to better fit her face. And that was it, they send us on our way. So much for retesting her eyes. What a waste of time going back. We will be going somewhere else to get her tested again.

Doctor was nice. But took my little girl here because her eyes had been bothering her, paid a lot to get her prescription glasses and they never helped. I called when she first got them and told the receptionist she was complaining still and she laughed and said it was normal. So I made her continue wearing them. Her school did a vision test and she failed 3 times with and without the glasses. I took her to the pediatrician who retested her vision in office and was told she failed and that her vision was exactly the same with and without the glasses! I am very disappointed! I called the eye doctor
