Services
We at Bender, Brown & Powers Funeral Home are dedicated to helping you through this difficult time, every step of the way. To do that, it's best you know a little about us first - please explore this section so that you may learn about our caring staff, our beautiful facilities, and our history of service.
In 1949, LaVerne and Luella Bender established the Bender Funeral Home at 354 Canisteo Street in Hornell. Mr. Bender had been an instructor at the Simmons Institute of Mortuary Science in Syracuse and was well qualified to own and manage his own funeral home. He established a tradition of caring service that is carried on today at all of their funeral home locations.
We understand how difficult it is to lose a loved one. Our compassionate and caring team work hard each and every day to make sure that the members of our community and beyond are taken care of during such a difficult time. For advice on what to do when a loved one is dying, making funeral arrangements, pre-arranging your own funeral, or anything else, please feel free to contact us, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We are here to help you create a service that befits the life of your loved one. This section contains useful information about funeral options, what to do when death occurs, information on writing an obituary, and recommended funeral etiquette.

Gerald made a very hard time for myself and my family a very smooth process. Cannot thank him and the staff there enough. Walked us through every step of the way and could not have been more sincere and helpful in our time of grieving.
