On Memorial Day the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc. co-sponsors with Doug's Flower Shop in Hornell a Balloon Release to honor any veteran that has passed away the previous year. This takes place at the annual Memorial Day service at the Broadway Mall sponsored by the Arthur H. Cunningham American Legion Post in Hornell.
If the Veteran is buried in a VA national cemetery, some or all of the cost of transporting the deceased may be reimbursed. You have not been reimbursed by another government agency or some other source, such as the deceased Veteran's employer, AND. The Veteran was entitled to receive VA pension or compensation, but decided not to reduce his/her military retirement or disability pay, OR.
At Bishop & Johnson Funeral, Inc. and Avoca Funeral Home we realize that saying goodbye to those you love is never easy. The sense of loss can be lightened however, by assuring the details of the funeral arrangements are made in advance through pre-planning.
