Services
Russ Simmerman, DPT graduated from the Uiversity of North Carolina Wilmington in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. In 2008, he earned a Doctorate degree of Physical Therapy from East Carolina University. He joined Physical Therapy Services of Wilmington in 2010 after working two years in acute settings.
The staff at Physical Therapy Services has worked hard to develop a vast knowledge base in a variety of clinical interests. Every clinician has extensive knowledge and training in their field, which allows them to provide optimal treatment for each client. Our clinicians combine over 100 years of clinical experience with a vested interest in continuing education to provide scientific support to ensure the quickest recovery for our patients.
A hand therapist is an occupational or physical therapist who, through advanced study, specializes in rehabilitating patients with conditions affecting the hand and upper extremity. Additionally, Certified Hand Therapists (CHT), have a minimum of five years clinical experience and have successfully passed an examination of advanced clinical skills and theory in upper extremity rehabilitation.
At Physical Therapy Services our goal is to provide cost effective medical care that serves the needs of our clients. Our clinical support staff works hard to ensure each patient receives the medical attention they need and will work to provide any resources that are available to assist. Most insurance companies provide coverage for physical therapy intervention.
I have seen Alan for several ailments over the years. He has treated me for shoulder and back pain as well as rehab following my knee replacement. I had no idea what rehab entailed following knee replacement. He pushed me just the right amount but also respected my pain and concerns. Thankfully, I am back gardening and playing with my grandkids.

I had suffered with neck and shoulder pain and stiffness for 18 months before finding Ashley at PT services Porters Neck. She helped me more than the chiropractor and the orthopedic PA that I had seen previously! There was noticeable improvement after one session, and now, after 4, I’m 90% better! I’m so happy to have found this practice and highly recommend them.

I have suffered from chronic low back pain for years. I had seen several chiropractors, but the issues always returned. Two trips to Andy and not only was my back fixed, but I have the knowledge of how to avoid it or fix it on my own going forward (he realized it was because my leg muscles got tight and needed to be stretched!) He's amazing!

Andy got me back on my feet and back to my active lifestyle after I suffered a complete tear of my Achilles. The exercises and protocols he provided were excellent and his knowledge really set an accurate timeline and attainable goals. When I was nervous about progressing to more advanced exercises, he was there to guide me through and make me feel confident in my recovery. He was also there to hold me back when I got too self-assured. I never would have expected to be back running several times a week without the guidance of Andy in only 3 months time. His work is truly amazing!

I've had my share of injuries over the last year and Andy always knows how to find the source of the injury/pain and fix me right back up, giving me exercises to apply in my routine to reduce ongoing or future injuries. Andy has the knowledge, patience, and a caring and realistic attitude to get the results you're looking for. Definitely recommend him and his team over anyone else!!

Before I went to Andy I heard he was the PT whisperer as he could diagnose your problems without even knowing much about you he was that good. Well, these people were right! Andy is knowledgable, professional, instructional and upbeat. Clean, nice facilities and courteous staff. Thank God for Andy!!

Andy and the team at Porter's Neck are just phenomenal! I went to them with long term pain after back surgery. Not only was Andy so patient with my thousands of questions, he answered them all with great knowledge and advice. He makes sure to set you up with long term success, not just quick fixes. His pleasant and fun attitude made the sessions go by fast and enjoyable. He also really knows his stuff and keeps up to date on the newest techniques. I cannot recommend Andy and the team enough!
