The Clarendon Child Care Center, Inc. (CCCC) is a unique preschool program for children age 2 1/2 to 6 years old. Our program provides a creative environment that nurtures the social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of each child. Highly-qualified teachers engage children in developmentally appropriate activities that are directed by the children's interests and needs.

Learning is fostered through exploration and play. In our multi-age setting, children learn to become members of a community while developing independence and social skills. The atmosphere of openness goes beyond the physical environment of the classroom and playground - responsive teachers encourage the children to develop social awareness, creativity and problem solving skills.
Services
Because we believe that children learn best when engaged in work and play that is meaningful to them, our curriculum is emergent. Topics of study, the selection of materials in the room, projects and field trips are carefully planned from the children's interests and needs. Children are encouraged to observe, to experiment and to make their own discoveries, and all activities are seen as opportunities for learning to problem-solve.
This classroom offers the small group size and higher level of teacher support that best meets the developmental needs of the youngest preschoolers. Two teachers and a full-time aide work with a balanced group of twelve two- and three-year-olds. Children must be at least two years and six months old to attend.
Creative, nurturing and professional teachers are at the heart of our program. Teaching positions require a minimum of an Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a directly related field. All staff are trained in CPR, first aid, and health screening and participate in on-going professional development.
CCCC's cooperative structure provides a rare and rewarding opportunity for working parents to be involved in their children's weekday lives. Parent involvement greatly benefits our children and is essential to the smooth operation of our preschool. Our co-op structure creates a sense of community where parents help shape school policy, gain a support network of parents and teachers and learn more about their child's development.
The CCCC Annual Auction provides the opportunity for the community to come together and socialize with friends - those new and familiar; a foundation by which the school can raise essential funds for its operating expenses and important programs; and, the chance to find great deals on retail goods, services and other priceless experiences.
