Services
In 1980, employees of the broadcasting industry founded Broadcasters' Child Development Center (BCDC) to meet the urgent need for quality infant care in Northwest Washington, DC. Throughout its 40 years history, BCDC has strived to meet the emotional, social, intellectual, and physical needs of our children.
BCDC's volunteer Board of Directors serves as the governing body of the nonprofit corporation and has fiduciary responsibilities, such as approving each year's budget that sets tuition rates and staff compensation. The 13 member board consists of the Executive Director, a staff representative, and 11 parent and community volunteers.
BCDC is a Creative Curriculum learning program. The Creative Curriculum is the country's leading scientifically based, comprehensive curriculum for programs serving children from birth to age 5 and defines the path our teachers take to help our children learn and grow.
Teachers develop play-based lesson plans that focus on social-emotional, physical, cognitive, literacy, math, science and technology, social studies, art, and English language development.Beyond our Curriculum, three core beliefs guide our play-based approach. Children are unique. Every child is an individual with different, strengths, interest, skills and needs.

We had a very difficult time deciding what type of childcare we wanted for our 5 month-old, particularly during the COVID pandemic, but we couldn't be happier with our decision to send him to BCDC. Executive Director Kim, Operations Manager Ravion, and other Staff are incredibly helpful and our baby's caregivers (Ms. Miriam and Ms. Olga!) are communicative, loving, and very helpful for us new parents. We love it and can't wait until after the pandemic to spend time with the other kids and parents!

As a new family to BCDC, we've been thoroughly impressed and relieved by the steps and procedures the school has put in place to create a safe, warm, and enriching experience for our active and curious two year old son. From the tenured and nurturing teaching staff, robust age appropriate curriculum, and relationships they build with current and past families, it is no wonder they've been around for 40 years!

We’ve sent both our kids to BCDC and couldn’t be happier. BCDC is a non-profit with a parent-led board and a great community of involved and connected families. The teachers are dedicated and engaged, and they really love the kids. It’s truly a nurturing environment for kids to learn and grow, not to mention the beautiful brand-new facility, and the fact that lunch, snacks and enrichment classes like music and Spanish are all part of the program at no additional cost. We love BCDC!

Our son has been at BCDC for a few months now and we are really happy. Choosing a daycare in DC is stressful because you have to make a very important (and expensive) choice in a limited amount of time. But we are very pleased that we decided to go with BCDC. The staff are really loving with our son, and the center is very organized and well run. They moved into a new space recently which is really clean and bright, and the enrichment activities (music, baby yoga) are an added bonus. A lot of the staff have been there for many years (one teacher in our class has been there 10, and another has been

We absolutely love BCDC! Based on a recommendation from a good friend, and a wonderful tour/initial visit, we enrolled our child as an infant and have been there ever since. We appreciate the warm, attentive, supportive staff (who have become a second family), the quality play-based curriculum, additional enrichment programs (such as Spanish, soccer, music, etc.), and family-focused activities (including an annual Halloween parade, St. Jude Trike-A-Thon, and holiday program). We’ve also been fortunate enough to find a support network among the other families. And the new location is terrific

I am a teacher at BCDC. BCDC rocks!!! No, I'm not being forced to speak highly or anything like that, lol, just my genuine observation and opinion. The entire culture is amazing! The administration team is beyond phenomenal (they support their staff members), the teachers are invested in the safety and development of the children in their care...and the children are simply awesome to work with!!! We are very progressive and also inclusive. I appreciate the unfailing partnership between the parents(you all are so awesome), the different teaching teams and styles. Professional, clean and safe environment

We've had at least one of our kids here since 2016, and it's truly the best! I cannot say enough great things about the teachers, staff, program, families, bonus extra-curricular activities, etc. They now have a nice, newly-renovated location that is very convenient for my commute down Wisconsin Ave. We feel so lucky to be part of such an awesome community!

We love BCDC! Our two kids are thriving under the care of the experienced staff and administration. The place has a genuinely warm and loving culture. Lunch and snacks as well as Spanish, yoga, music, and other enrichment classes are included in the tuition. We love that the staff are invested in, paid well, and offered good benefits. Happy teachers = happy kids. BCDC also moved to a brand new, beautiful center at Van Ness and Wisconsin in September 2019 -- the icing on the cake!

We have been absolutely thrilled with the care and education our daughter has received at BCDC. The teachers and staff are loving and warm, and the new facility on Wisconsin Avenue is beautiful. We feel very fortunate to have found the Center and the wonderful community of families and educators that it has created. I strongly recommend the BCDC to families looking for a wonderful environment for early childhood education.
