Advanced Primary Care
At Advanced Pain Care, our ongoing commitment to your comfort and improvement is a primary concern. Advanced Pain Care opened its doors in 2002 and has been providing safe, effective pain management and care to our patients ever since.

We are dedicated to improving the quality of life for those in pain, and at APC you will work with caring, compassionate providers to develop a comprehensive plan of care individualized to fit your unique therapeutic goals. Our multi-disciplinary team of physicians and staff is highly qualified, with certifications in over 15 specialties of pain care, nursing, and behavioral and psychological health.
Services
Beginning in 2002, Dr. Malone and the pain specialists at Advanced Pain Care have been working hard to relieve the suffering of thousands of patients in pain. With eleven locations and two surgery centers across Texas, we are capable of treating patients all the way from San Marcos to Amarillo, Texas.
At Advanced Pain Care, our ongoing commitment to your comfort and improvement is a primary concern. Our team of experienced doctors and staff will closely monitor your condition and work with you on a personal level. Treatment options for these conditions include precision nerve injections, epidural steroid injections, radio frequency, spinal cord stimulation, intrathecal pumps, physical therapy, pain medicine, and psychological support.
Chronic-malignant pain that accompanies diseases such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, end-stage organ failure, HIV/AIDS and chronic vascular insufficiency. Chronic non-cancer pain such as musculoskeletal pain, visceral pain, and neuropathic pain (nerve damage).

Pain, when left untreated, can severely impact one's quality of life socially, psychologically, physically and financially, while potentially causing other conditions such as decreased concentration, reduced sleep, impaired immunity, decreased mobility, sense of depression and social isolation, sense of being a burden on others, acute anxiety, etc.
There are many causes of lower or upper back pain, such as poor posture, strenuous exercise schedules, psychological stress, and more serious reasons such as nerve damage, obesity, arthritis, and failed back surgery. Sometimes, back pain can be treated with physical therapy, home remedies, injections, and over the counter medication.
Despite being diagnosed as a "disease", degenerative disc disease is more of a condition that occurs naturally in an aging body. Degenerative disc disease is an age-related condition where one or more intervertebral discs degenerate over time as people grow older. This degeneration causes a wear and tear of the spinal discs, which are like the shock absorbers between the bones while enabling the flexible movement of the body.

I’ve been coming here for years and staff and doctors are all great. Wait time is small, I came in today and I was called in less that 5 minutes. I highly recommend this place to everyone. Doctor Paterno is wonderful doctor to have.

Searching for a new pain Dr was a daunting task for me but when I found APC, boy was I surprised! Everyone from the initial person I talked to on the phone with to Dr. Michaud has been very helpful and pleasant to work with. I have a pain pump and getting it filled by Dana is always pleasant. She is very competent in what she does. All my questions are answered and the text message appt reminders are fantastic! The facility is always clean and neat. I am so glad I found APC!

I don't think any other pain management place can come close to beating Advanced Pain Care. They're the best. I suggest you give them a call. Thank you!

The doctor prescribed me medication I was already taking and told him it was not effective ... I was also accused of wanting opioids which was not the case ... The doctor seemed more concerned about his reputation than actually listening to his patients

After waiting for my appointment for over a month, (which was fine and typical for a specialist), I would have expected that they'd verify my insurance before I arrived. Instead, they didn't verify it until I was sitting in their office. They called my insurance company while I sat and waited, so they could see how much money I owed them. I knew my copay for a specialist was $50 but somehow they came back with $155 that I had to pay them BEFORE they would let me in for my appointment. I have NEVER had to pay that much up front, and I KNOW that wasn't right, but I also had driven

I was very impressed by the care and knowledge of the staff. The organization of the office and how they handled the flow of patients was very impressive. Dr. Paterno was amazing. He was very caring and understanding. He listened to me carefully and reviewed my history carefully and came up with a wonderful treatment plan. I’m so glad I came to Advanced Pain Care.

I’ve been consulting with APC for a while now and have had a good experience until today. My interaction with Onica (or Monica) was extremely disappointing and I ended the call feeling insulted. While the point being contented was valid, she was extremely rude, insensitive and completely inconsiderate of my circumstances. I recommend that she be given some sensitivity training for interacting with patients.

The Doctors, Nurses, and entire staff at APC are the best. Everyone is very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. As a Chronic Pain suffer I can say that even though I still have pain, these doctors are doing a great job at trying to find ways to help relieve my pain. As well as trying to pin-point the source of my pain, and not just giving me more and more pain meds to mask it.

I'm wondering if the people who work here hate their jobs, because most of them seem to be grumpy and rude. They've already made several mistakes with my prescriptions. I had to go back to this office to correct them. It's only a matter of time until we don't have to put up with this kind of treatment. Patients deserve to be treated with kindness and respect and to have meds prescribed appropriately. I'm a professional in the community, yet when I come in here, I'm treated like a drug abuser. I understand urine checks. That's fine. It's the attitude of the

If there were a no-star review, I would give it to these people. They do NOT take individual case histories into account, nor are they interested in hearing anything about it. You might get a meeting with the Doc....once. Then you will be shuffled off to an assistant.
If you have a chronic condition that probably won't get better - Do not go here. If you have a broken leg that will get better - they are almost adequate.

Great pain management but terrible reception area. Close and cramp while trying to observe Covid19 protocols.
No automatic doors for handicap patients with canes/wheelchairs is unacceptable.
The building is still under construction since last year.

I received, and continue to receive, excellent and friendly treatment from Dr. Paterno and the staff at Advanced Pain Care. I was referred to Dr. Paterno by my rheumatologist for persistent lower back and SI joint pain likely related to my psoriatic arthritis. The pain was pretty constant throughout the day and really hurt at night when I tried to lay down to sleep, and I was unable to sleep without pain medication.
Dr. Paterno continued the tramadol medication my previous doctor had me on and suggested nerve ablation treatments as a way to treat the pain without relying on narcotics. I had
