The Depot Cafe, located in the old downtown section of Frisco, has a family-like atmosphere and is an excellent place for friends to visit and enjoy good country cooking. The Friday night gathering has become a tradition (even for newcomers) for both the young and old. The Depot Cafe is proud to bring you the best comfort food in Frisco.
From hand-breaded catfish filets and chicken fried steak, to homemade bread pudding and peach cobbler, we serve what you'd cook at home-if you had the time. Our family restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch Tuesday through Sunday, and for dinner on Friday.

Services
The land where The Depot Cafe sits started out as Henry's Supermarket, the go-to grocer and butcher in Frisco. It was 1960 and the family business supplied the best meat and foodstuffs to local residents. For three decades the business flourished, but as chain grocers populated the area, Henry decided he should change with the times.

This is an awesome place to go for breakfast. They have a wide menu and everything I've tried so far it tastes delicious. The restaurant can get crowded but please have patience. There's limited parking but seems to be enough for all the customers. Don't be shocked at the restaurant is adjacent to an Exxon gas station.

Ordered the English muffin breakfast sandwich, the sausage was a super dry patty, don't know how long it was just sitting there before it was added in this sandwich. The English muffin was not crispy at all, super soft like they just warmed it up and served it. Overall would not recommend the breakfast sandwich. Maybe the other food is good. But will not return.

The absolute BEST hamburger in the area. The Depot Cafe is a classic. Family run business that’s been in Frisco since the 60’s and way before there was anything past 121. I’m old enough to remember getting gas from the gas station side back in high school and taking old 5th street (the back way) back home to Plano. I highly recommend if you want great home cooking and the absolute best chicken fried steak in Texas!!

Good decor, and it's got a lot of historical trappings, which is cool. There's a few special tables, the large one towards the center has a lazy Susan in the middle. Another one has an old population sign above it from when Frisco had a population of ~1800. This location used to be a train Depot, hence the name.
Average "home cooking" type meals. $9 for a burger and onion rings that was slightly better than fast food, but worse than Sonic. There are two types of onion rings: breaded, crispy onion rings; and onions that have been wrapped in a layer of smooth, greasy breading. They serve the second

So it was my 1st time eating here. I looked on Google maps and found it. It looks country style cafe so I tried it. I got the lunch special. The Chicken Fried Steak with green beans and mashed potatoes with gravy and a roll and a slice of fresh strawberry cake for
$8.95 plus tax. That's a steal! Then Emily was courteous and professional. The food was as great as the price. Highly recommended.

Update 09/20. Fabulous again. Not inexpensive but the food, service, delivery to table time are all excellent. A great value.
-----------
Previous review: A pleasurable diner try. Basic breakfast fare served quickly. Excellent quality sunny side up eggs and a breakfast pork chop grilled to perfection. Will be going back for sure.
