Northwood Boatworks has been your one-stop family-owned boat company for all of your wood boat repair and restoration needs in Alden, Elk Rapids, and Kewadin, MI since 1985. We restore all types of wood boats, including antique and classic boats. All work is done in-house, from start to finish, including woodwork, custom fitting of trailers and finishing.
The story above explains in easy to understand words what you need to know about ethanol, but let me go one step further speaking from experience: if you are going to use gasoline with the ethanol mix in your older engines having cast iron carburetors, galvanized fuel tanks, fiberglass tanks, rubber diaphragm fuel pumps, then treat the gasoline with Star Tron gasoline additive for ethanol.
Dave has helped me out multiple times with both parts and knowledge as I worked my way thru the restoration of my prewar Chris Craft. He most recently pulled a pre war model K from his collection, went they the mechanics of it and shipped it to me in running condition. Dave politely responded to my inquiry, on his web site, asking if he had an oil dip stick for a 1961 Graymarine 327 V8 engine in his collection of used vintage marine engine parts.

Dave is an amazing source for all things classic boat. His passion for early Chris Craft triple cockpits has been a tremendous help in our quest to complete the restoration of a 1926 26’ Chris Craft. His experience, knowledge, collection of resource materials and inventory of parts have been a key to the completion our work. If Dave does not have a needed item in stock, he either knows where to acquire it or has the ability to reproduce it. Every visit, either in person or by phone is an educational experience. Being a novice at most mechanical things and acquiring a 1939 Chris Craft Barrel back by sheer luck, Dave took the time and patience to explain to me the workings of the boat. He made me feel like I was his only customer! I felt guilty the amount of time he spent on the phone explaining what I should be educated about, I tried to get him to charge me a consulting fee, which he would not. He is a true craftsman, there's not a lot of people around anymore that have that kind of knowledge and passion for their career.

Dave Moore is very knowledgeable in boat construction and repair. His over 30 years of experience in NW Michigan is extensive in both hull construction and mechanical systems. Along with his barns full of parts, if he does not have what you need he can make if for you in his extensive machine shop or knows someone who can help. He is very generous with his time to help you solve what ever problem you present him......definitely a 5 Star company.

Dave is great and has a vast knowledge of wood boats in the mechanics of them. Was extremely helpful on the oil filter option and thermostat option for our boat. Gave us some pointers of what to do to make it better. He is my number one go to source if I have questions or need information and service.
