This review is based on the last time I ate there:1968. It's the best. Up until eight years old, I'd spend the summer in Westport. This was one of my family's regular spots. Fantastic memories. An hour ago, due to a siri detour driving north from North Carolina to MA, to my delight, I found myself driving through Westport. And still there was Gold's! Alas, it had closed for the day, but just seeing the sign transported me in time to a delicious happy place I enjoyed with my family. Gold's has endured. My spirits are buoyed and my heart is a little lighter tonight. I will fall asleep with visions

I ordered several items today, one being the pastrami sandwich which was disappointing. The meat and bread itself was great however, I only received meat shavings and 3/4 full of peppercorns so it was like eating bread and pepper with no meat which was sad because the sandwich itself was about 10 bucks. I did not get a small side of coleslaw which many deli places provide and only part of a pickle so I'm hoping the soup, potatoes and dessert will suffice. I'm on the fence about returning based on those issues. I'm hoping the owners are aware of it and that my sandwich was just a fluke thing.
