Treehouse Shakers' mission is to create original dance-plays that encourage multi-generational audiences to experience a connection to their community. Our purpose remains as it was when we created our first dance-play in 1997: to capture the artistically rich beauty and simplicity of the human imagination.
Melding modern dance, music and interactive visual elements with a theatrical script, our repertoire includes 15 works that explore narrative styles through universal themes addressing every age level within youth programming. Treehouse Shakers offers a variety of exceptional public workshops, in-school residencies, and staff developments tailored to specific age ranges. From Pre-school to Graduate School, we specialize in Storytelling, Dance, Writing, Creative Drama and More. Our arts in education programs encourage young people to think, learn, and truly be engaged through the discipline, innovation, and creativity of the arts.
Treehouse Shakers' Outreach programs aim to serve our multi-generational audiences through our touring program, NYC performance season, and our in-school residencies. Every child, no matter their income, location, and/or disability, deserves to have access to high-quality arts programming. We partner with non-profits, community centers & schools to provide thousands of low-cost tickets youth & families.
Choose our Virtual Theater series which includes our production packages for your family or school community, or choose Virtual Classrooms, to help enhance learning whether learning remote, homeschooling or if you are public or private school seeking additional arts content. We have an array of awarded classes, with exceptional teaching artists.
Everybody Dance Now! Any kid will tell you, entertainment-wise, it's hard to top an animal story with a good beat. Animal Rhythms invites kids to explore rhythm and modern dance following several animals as they learn about helping, sharing, working and friendship. Get ready to dance! Hatched is a delightful introduction to theater.
