Sierra Solitude is the name of our 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom vacation home high in the mountains of the Northern Sierra Nevada. It's gorgeous here! You will find us in the heart of scenic Sierra County, directly off Highway 49 between the historic goldrush townsites of Sierra City and Bassetts. Your drive here will take you along a glorious stretch of the Yuba-Donner Scenic Byway, and you will feel yourself shifting naturally into a slower, more relaxed gear as you leave the crowds far behind. Sierra Solitude is a spacious, beautifully furnished mountain home situated on 3 private acres deep in the forest at an elevation of 5200 feet. For those seeking extraordinary tranquility and privacy, Sierra Solitude is the perfect getaway. The house was built from the surrounding cedar trees and it's attractive, natural exterior blends easily into the landscape.
Complete privacy in a gorgeous forest/mountain setting with 2000 square feet of living space on 3 acres with no neighbors in sight. Large, 1000 square foot deck with built-in double barbecue, seating and glorious forest canyon view. We are within easy walking distance of two pristine rivers (North Yuba and Salmon Creek) with swimming holes and beaches at low-water in summer and fall.
It's difficult to know where to start when compiling a list of things to do in this area. There is so much to choose from, and each season offers a multitude of different recreation possibilities. The entrance to the Lakes Basin Recreation Area is just a two mile drive from our house. The Lakes Basin is a spectacular area of some 50+ pristine, glacial lakes.
There is a 3 night minimum stay during Holiday periods and a 2 night minimum stay at other times. A deposit of $300 is required to secure your booking, and the balance is due two weeks prior to your scheduled arrival. We also require a security deposit of $250 in the form of a separate check. This is due at the time the final balance is paid, two weeks prior to the scheduled arrival date.
Our vacation home is located in Sierra County directly off Highway 49, between Sierra City and Bassetts. Driving time from San Francisco is approximately 4.5 hours, from Sacramento approximately 2.5 hours and from Reno approximately 1.5 hours. There are several different routes you can take to get here from the Bay Area and they are all about the same driving time (depending on traffic).
