Back in 1951 William Stepp and his wife Marion and William's brother Carl set out to open up a sewing machine retail and repair store. Back in these early years they would offer to come to customers homes and give free demonstrations of our machines. William and Carl were successful and this allowed them to earn customers trust and gave them a strong foundation.
Now, in the late 60s, the big indoor malls started being built and many of the big named stores such as Macy's, JC Penney, and Sears in their heydays anchored these huge malls. The average indoor mall had up to 100 stores, representing merchandisers with interconnecting walkways that enable customers to walk from store to store.

So helpful. I needed a machine to do simple fixes- hem pants, repair a seam. Obviously I didn't need a fancy machine with fancy stiches. Their selection was great. A selection of new and used machines- top of the line to used basic machines. A family business, and they made me feel like family. I got just the machine I needed: a used machine at a reasonable price.

We needed a new sewing machine and came to A1 for information and to see what was available. They are incredibly knowledgeable about sewing machines and are kind and patient about answering questions and demonstrating the differences between machines. We ended up buying a machine and are very happy with it. It also makes me happy to support a local family business. Highly recommended.

Everyone at A-1 Sewing and Gary were absolutely fantastic when I popped in the other day to take a look at sewing machines. Gary took so much time with me to go over different machines and demo for me. You can tell everyone over there is genuinely patient and kind. Gary help me find just the right sewing machine for my needs. I’m so happy with my purchase and I will definitely come back to them for any of my sewing machine needs :)

Had a wonderful experience at A-1 today! Gary was so kind, helpful, and knowledgable. He even matched the online price of the machine I picked out. I’ve shopped with A1 sewing company for over 10 years. I always receive excellent service. I have 45 year old singer that I bring in to get serviced. Every time they’ve had all the parts and was able to repair any issues. I purchased a Janome from them eight years ago and I take it to them to get serviced as well. They do a great job. I would highly recommend A-1 Seeing to anybody looking for a machine.

I just left A-1 Sewing and Gary was absolutely amazing! He met me outside in the rain and carried my machine in for me. He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable of my machine. Come to find out my machine wasn’t even broken like I thought. I truly appreciate his business ethics and honesty because he could have easily taken my money. I recommend this business to anyone in the Atlanta area. They are definitely A-1. I’m going back soon to purchase a machine of more quailed and durability.

So glad we went to A-1 Sewing instead of ordering a new machine on-line or buying from a big box store. This family-owned and run business focuses on just sewing machines. They are friendly, helpful, and above all, knowledgeable. We were interested in a particular Jenome machine, which they had on display and in stock. They sat us down and demonstrated the sewing machines' abilities and functions which completely sold us on our purchase. And we are more than welcome to return if we have any problems, needed any repairs, or even if we needed help with a sewing project. Great personal touch and support
