Services
At Canal Cartage we have worked very hard to offer as many services for trucking and freight as possible. Our goal is to give our clients and drivers a one stop shop for all of the needs in commercial freight. Whether it is moving freight or storing it, we can help you find the right custom solution for your business.
Canal Cartage provides secure warehousing at our facility in La Porte Texas. This large 272,000 square foot warehouse provides storage for non-hazmat and palletized goods for our commercial customers. If you are importing less-than-container (LCL) load shipments on a regular basis, consolidating your freight can provide a tremendous savings on your overall freight costs.
The term drayage was coined in the earliest days of freight handling and referred to "transport by a sideless cart" by horse, which was called a 'dray'. Today, intermodal domestic drayage services are used to deliver export goods to and from marine ports (such as Port of Houston, Texas), and to deliver containers that arrive on sea faring vessels from major export leaders like Mexico and China.
In order to ship hazardous cargo within the United States, logistics service providers must supply a driver that has a valid HME (Hazardous Materials Endorsement) license. Successful preparation and completion of the Hazardous Materials Endorsement Knowledge Exam. An in-person interview, background check with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for a security threat assessment and fingerprinting.
Drayage is the transport of commercial cargo or freight over a short distance, or as part of a long-haul delivery schedule for the customer. As many industrial supplies and retail products are imported to the United States from Mexico and China, intermodal drayage is often required, or more than one type of transportation to get the freight to end-user customer.

Micromanagement is the name of the game now. Regardless of year model of truck or working locally they force you to get ELD tablet and camera. Insurance is $175 a week minimum and if you have an accident no matter how minor you are terminated on the spot. Several guys I personally know have been terminated for minor reasons even though they were at canal for over 20 years. Better companies are out there. Drivers are expendable here.

Worst company to be associated with horrible office staff. There is plenty other company who can get the job done on a timely manner and efficiently with no worries at all. This company on the other hand has been nothing but problems who ever is running this is not up to standards. The dispatching office is an absolute joke. I recommend everyone to go anywhere else than with this company. I would put zero stars if it was available! Don’t waste your money let alone your time with them it would be the biggest mistake.
