Services
I live in the neighborhood and just found this gem here on Yelp. I dined in with a friend on a Saturday night, and there were just three other people eating instead. The dining room is VERY small, so I'd call ahead if you have a party larger than 2 coming in. I ordered a standard pad Thai with tofu to test this place out.

Beware: MOLD!

I ordered last night on DoorDash and my green curry had mold all over the tofu.

Fingers crossed I don't get sick. Posting this in hopes that others don't have a bad experience like I did!

One of the best thai food in chicago. Taste is authentic just like in Thailand. Every thing is delicious. It is quite spicy. The place is small, only 10 seats. You can reserve table in advance. It may be difficult to find street parking. Or you can go by red line, get off at Belmont and walk a little bit.

Ease up on the oil and salt. Way too much. Small portions which I don't mind if the food is good, unfortunately Todd wasn't good. Not that having more salty food would have made me happy, just tells me owners are cheap and don't cook right.

The food's ok, and the lunch specials are a good deal. However, I found a staple in my food. This is unacceptable from any restaurant. They obviously are not very careful with their food prep. I will not be ordering there again.

Thought the pad see ew was just okay, nothing crazy special. The soup with coconut milk was amazing!!! High suggest the medium spice, gives it a good kick without overpowering the coconut. A small filled me since it comes with a protein and only eat a little of my main meal.

I have been coming to this restaurant for a few months now and have never had a bad experience. Exceptional food and very kind service. I'm always impressed by their menu variations and how it does not dilute the quality. Definitely a hole in the wall and a must check out spot in the area!

Ordered from Tom Yum for the first time. It was very good Thai food at about twenty percent less price than other area Thai places. We had vegetable pot stickers, chicken pad thai, panang curry and a side order
of peanut sauce (recommended). Will be ordering again when we have
Thai food.

Their papaya salad is delicious. I’ve tried so many and their recipe is so flavorful and good. Watch for the spice because it sneaks up on you.

Just moved to the neighborhood and was excited to try this small Thai spot! Ordered the Thai Spring Rolls, the chicken Red Curry, and tofu Pad Thai (both spicy). They didn't disappoint with the spice level! The pad Thai is peanuty and flavorful, but I wouldn't order the tofu again. Curry was good and it was so full. Spring rolls are cut into pinwheels but beautifully presented. If I don't feel like ordering delivery, this place will definitely fill my Thai craving.

So first off let me start by saying that I absolutely LOVE thai food; it's my favorite cuisine. My husband and I frequent this area as we like to stop by Intelligentsia for their Avena Latte. I happened to come across this place on our previous visit and kept it in mind to try the next time we were in the area.
Let me also mention that we drive from Wauconda to find to this area. After calling maybe six times they finally picked up the phone. I ordered the Panang Curry lunch special. After walking back to my car to eat, this is what I took out of the bag. The middle container is the curry

If you want that authentic, northern Thai flavor profile - this is the hidden spot I've been searching for. Everything on their menu is made fresh, fairly portions, and fairly prices. But the secret is that they have TWO menus...one in english (for the regular American tastebud) and one in Thai (for those who misses Thailand). If you can't read - play this game where you ask the owner to pick something for you. Her recommendations will surprise and satisfy you. I love their raw crab salad, thai sausage and sticky rice, and sweet mango and coconut rice.

Cute little place with solid dishes - I can see this as a good takeout destination. I was craving Thai and the food here hit the spot. Had Pad See Ew and Panang Curry, both flavorful and just what I expected. Portion size was decent.

I love the authenticity of this restaurant. The Tom yum soup was great with nice rich flavor, yet wasn't loaded with sugar like so many other western Thai places. We look forward to coming back to try more of the menu. A very pleasant experience with the owner when we picked up. With our gratitude, we will be back!

The staff and service was very friendly and they took excellent cleaning safety measures. We ordered Crab Fried Rice, Tom Yum Noodle Soup, and Pad Prik Khing which were all very flavorful with perfect blend of spices. If you want authentic Thai food in Lakeview I would highly recommend Tom Yum Cafe!

Just ok...

no real complaints or true shoutouts.
pad see ewe was on the greasy side desperate for more flavor. gado gado salad was missing more substance. green veggie curry was one of the better dishes but none of the (too few) veggies seemed at their best and certain some were frozen. cambodian fried rice was very good and worth a mention.
beef panang review: too watery and flat flavored.

BYOB. 12-seats. Lots-n-Lots of authentic Thai Spicy Dishes! Neighborhood Place.

"No delivery as they only have 2 Cooks." :-) Untainted by Greed!

Basic protein is INCLUDED with dish. *Yay* $9.50 PAD SEE EW is a single serving. So, so THAI ICED TEA.

I look forward to coming back for more, especially the Soups!

Fantastic. If you wanna feel ‘REAL’ thai food, you should go. Go twice. Go three times. Keep going. I haven’t eaten all the food they provide. But I assure that theirs are true one.
There were some people eating there like us. But there the people ordering foods to go, too.
I truly recommend you all to go.

With one of my favorite spots in the area being closed on a holiday, I did a quick Yelp search to see where I would go for some takeout before heading home.

My senses led me to Tom Yum Cafe where I was pleasantly surprised at the price, quality, and taste of my order. The name of the place itself doesn't scream anything imaginative but I am so glad I gave them a shot because it was definitely good quality!

I ordered their Fried Thai Meatballs ($4.95) and the Penang Noodle ($8.95) with pork and crispy, flat egg noodle. The meatballs came in three skewers and was an assortment of different

This Thai restaurant is small, but has seating for about 12 people. The menu offers a large variety of dishes, which is great. The food was pretty good, but some dishes were a miss.

Tod Mun Pla $6.50 - Small delicious fish cakes.
Tom Kha soup $4.50 - Good and comes loaded with ingredients.
Kai Jeow Ground Pork $7 - You can't go wrong with Thai omelet.
Pad Ped Pla Duk $12 - Catfish with just the right kick.
Bamee Galic Chicken $9 - Not much to this dish other than noodles and chicken. Not the bamee style I like.
Mor Kang $4 - Pass on this dessert. I've had much better Thai custard
