Services
At Our Family Doctor with the multitude of insurance plans, we try to help our patients understand the requirements and answer questions as needed. Our Billing Supervisor is available to educate and navigate through this process. We are always looking for ways to make things easier for our patients, so if you have any suggestions, please let us know.
At Our Family Doctor (OFD) we realize that many of our patients are either between jobs, or for some other reason do not have health insurance. Even without active health insurance, we believe that everybody deserves to have a personal physician. At Our Family Doctor we will do our best to meet the needs of our cash paying patients by offering a standard cash paying discount for our services.
Dr. Meredith Polansky completed her residency from MAHEC here in Asheville. She joined Ravenscroft Family Health Center in 2008 after traveling and working/volunteering around the world. In 2011, she co-founded Our Family Doctor with Dr. Weizman, another Asheville doctor. As with all members of the Our Family Doctor medical staff, she is passionately committed to the welfare of individuals and families wherever they live.
Dr. Weizman is one of the most passionate and energetic doctors in Asheville, NC, not only to his patients but his life as well. A graduate of Temple University School of Medicine, he completed his family practice residency in Renton, WA, just outside of Seattle.
While completing his residency, and while serving as chief resident, Dr. Weizman volunteered to serve externships in Swaziland, Africa and Kotzebue, Alaska; experiences that have left a lasting impression on him.In 2001, after his residency, Dr. Weizman and his wife (also an Asheville Doctor) relocated to Asheville where he joined Ravenscroft Family Health Center.

As a competitive swimmer at the University of Kentucky (and an SEC post graduate scholarship recipient), Dr. Jodi Schwab knows all too well the value of hard work. Jodi joined Ravenscroft Family Health Center right out of residency in 2002, where she brought that determination to work every day.
After graduating from the University of Kentucky, College of Medicine in 1999, her love of outdoor recreation and live music lured Dr. Schwab to Asheville to complete her residency at the Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) where she served as chief resident.Dr. Schwab is a huge proponent for prevention and encourages better health through exercise, dietary modification, and non pharmaceutical treatments whenever possible.

I hate to write a bad review but I have had a couple of negative experiences with their staff and will unfortunately not be returning. Their staff and billing department is either extremely unqualified, unorganized, unprofessional, understaffed or (most likely) all of the above. I went to see my doctor in March of 2020 for something traumatizing to me and would be for most people and it took me hounding them with phone calls to get any information on what was happening. Well, fast forward to over 5 months later, I received a bill for an amount I did not feel I needed to pay because I had been insured

My husband, kids, and I were patients at OFD for about 13 years, but I have been waiting a long time to see a doctor for myself. The three others have had so many appointments between them for their respective pressing needs that I fell through the cracks, since I didn't have any. The fact that OFD got rid of their after hours and Saturday clinics also makes it really hard for me to get to a doctor.
Now, when I NEED to see a doctor, I find out that OFD dropped me as a patient because it's been 5 years since I went there for myself. Never mind that three other people from my household have been

I have had nothing but good experiences at this practice for several years. I see Dr. Weizman, and he is an excellent physician. My experiences with the staff have also been very good, very polite and professional. I really appreciate the patient portal, where I can ask my Dr. a quick question to determine whether or not an appointment is appropriate. Saves me time, aggravation, and money. Highly recommended. My wife feels the same way about Dr. Vieages at this practice.

I have experienced this practice both as a professional and later as a patient. I know them to be passionate and principled, and I trust them. And believe me, as a nitpicky nurse I don't say that lightly! Dr. Vieages is excellent at meeting me where I'm at and approaching my care in a way that works for me. We have a nerdy good time problem-solving the puzzle that is my body! When I use the patient portal I hear back from her that day unless, of course, it is her day off. I've had excellent care at Our Family Doctor for years. I can't say enough about Dr. Preston - her level of care, professionalism, and concern is exemplary. When a same-day appointment is needed and Dr. Preston is not available, I've found the other doctors in the practice to be both kind and competent. I'm glad to have found this practice.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Preston for more than four years. She is very engaging and shows true concern and is an amazing doctor. The practice strives to follow homeopathic guidelines, but understand that there are times to prescribe when needed. It is practicing medicine. I only wish that you could get a call from the doctor rather than triage nurse. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars.

I have been bringing my kids to this practice for years, and I am always pleased with the care we receive. Dr. Preston is incredible! My 2 youngest kids have had to have special concerns addressed, and she has gone above and beyond to facilitate referrals and make sure we are receiving the best care possible. She has taken the time to listen to my concerns and validate my intuition when I felt something was not quite right. I appreciate her so much and will recommend her to anyone looking for an excellent family doctor!
