During the first phase of your PADI Open Water Diver scuba certification, we'll help you develop an understanding of the basic principles of scuba diving. You'll learn things like how pressure affects your body, how to choose the best scuba gear and what to consider when planning dives. You'll briefly review what you have studied in the five knowledge sections with your instructor and take a short quiz to be sure you're getting it.
The Advanced Open Water Diver course helps you increase your confidence and build your scuba skills so you can become more comfortable in the water. This is a great way to get more dives under your belt while continuing to learn under the supervision of your PADI Instructor. This course builds on what you've learned and develops new capabilities by introducing you to new activities and new ways to have fun scuba diving.
The PADI Enriched Air Diver course is PADI's most popular specialty scuba diving course, and it's easy to see why. Scuba diving with Enriched Air Nitrox gives you more no decompression dive time. Whether you've never made a boat dive or you've logged dozens, the PADI Boat Diver Specialty course can benefit almost every diver because different boats in different parts of the world do things differently. What is neutral buoyancy? Scuba divers like to be neutrally buoyant so they neither sink nor float. It can be a tricky thing. I had been wanting to learn how to scuba dive for years, and Divers West made the whole experience everything I had hoped for and more. I went there to get my diving certification. It was great experience; Andy, Gabe, and the entire staff prepared me and made sure I felt comfortable underwater. I originally had problems during my first dive equalizing, the dive instructor during my first open water helped me slowly go down until I felt comfortable and get over any potential hurdles.
I highly recommend it and felt really comfortable and prepared for any situation.

One of the rudest, least professional places I have been in my life. My friend and I rented gear from here once before, but had limited interactions, so felt comfortable renting again. Unfortunately, this was not the case. When I called on the phone to verify that they were still renting gear, given the pandemic, I also asked for recommendations for beach diving locations in SoCal. Immediately, I was told that beach diving was not worth it and that a real diver would just go on a boat - to which I responded saying I was not comfortable with that given covid-19, and the conversation ended. I had a great experience at this shop and Javier specifically. He was extremely knowledgeable and did not try to rip me off by pressuring me to buy the expensive stuff. Instead, he talked about the pros and cons of the different items and was an expert about the various types of gear he had at the shop. I could tell that he genuinely wanted to get me the best gear that would suit my needs.
He also met me by appointment, which made me feel very comfortable during this uncertain pandemic time. He wore his mask the whole time... even while speaking to me at length about gear and certification.

This was the dive shop where it all started for me. And I can tell you right now this will continue to be "the shop" for me until the day I can no longer go underwater or physically move to a diff state. Why? Very simple. The owner. Very rarely do I come across people selling me something who I can trust with absolute certainty that they are considering my interests and needs and not taking advantage of my limited knowledge. Well I can tell you that I have had great experience with this dive shop from ever encounter i have had. I have also read the bad reviews and they all seem like typical upset people that don't really have a leg to stand on. No dvie shop should fill tanks for someone without a Cert Card, unless they know them personally. So from my view this is one more reason to trust the integrity of a dive shop than to bad mouth it. The guy with the bad check is all over the place with crazy stories. I read all the reviews of this place before singing up for the Open water class, and the advanced open water

Took the class october 2018 this owner Javier Lopez promised and talk very nice and , don't worry we figure out but after you enroll in class every thing upside down, and really BS you will get the poor , old equipment for training, he will take advance of that and make you pay more for renting good equipment , and by the way he will make you pay extra 1 addition trip to Catalina to complete the PADI certificate ..so you end up pay a few hundred dollars more , and 10% off what ever you buy from him is BS too, his sale equipment more than 15% ,

If you're looking to get certified Diver West is the best shop with the best instructors! I've taken the Open Water Diver course all the way to Rescue Diver and plan on taking the DiveMaster course soon. Javier took the the time to make sure I understood everything before I bought anything. He also gives you great deals if you buy all your gear there. I send all my friends there to get certified!

Wow. Greeted by the owner with a level of total disrespect for me as a customer. Rude from the get go and giving me such a hard time about filling my tank. I came in to fill a tank in an emergency situation. I'm PADI certified but didn't have my card on me. Never has this been a problem in my 17 years of diving. It was a problem apparently. I travel a lot so I use a passport for primary identification, about as official as it gets. Unfortunately not so with Javier. He said something seemed fishy. I grabbed my stuff and left. He lost a few hundred in sales and many more in the future.

Follow up my review , scam, scam , the bad check he agree and wrote to pay me with no money, stop payment, I left him a message for him to correct his action , but look like that the way he does business ..bad business owner , scam, rip off people just like Clarence I ..said a few year ago .. he use his own policy to play his game .. he still own my money and the bad check copy i still have it ..The credit card company advice me to take legal action to this shop owner ..they can not help me much to credit back ..

I went here to reactivate my Open Water Diver skills. I like how easy it was to have everything set up. Javier is very organized, friendly and professional. he answered all my questions, helped me with all the papers and guided me through every step.The equipment I rented from him was in great condition, all clean, everything set up and ready to go.
And Ethan, the dive instructor, is the best I've ever worked with. He's super fun, knowledgeable and highly professional, and made me feel save and confidant.

Brads not a very nice guy and he did not help me or refund a portion of my money because I did not enjoy dive #1 and wanted to finish my dives in Bahamas with my friend. He made me feel really uncomfortable and gave me a hard time. His son picked up the slack and his wife is nice also. Won't go back and don't recommend.

I came to Divers West for my PADI OW certification on a recommendation from a friend and I couldn't have been happier with my experience here! Brad is phenomenal and everything you could want from a dive shop owner: professional, friendly, caring, thorough, detailed and passionate about the sport. His communication was excellent...my availability and schedule were very hectic and he was always patient with me and discussed my options for which class to take. I was finally able to get into a class in December. Yeah!

Cozy dive shop tucked away on a busy street. Parking in front of the store or a few spots along the driveway to the south side of the building. The store is surprisingly well stocked and laid out for its smaller footprint.
I recognized Brad since he was the dive manager at a large sporting chain down the street where I originally got PADI certified. I had roughly 4 weeks to get my advanced open water certification, and luckily Brad was able to squeeze me in, though the next advanced OW classes weren't scheduled until after my trip to the Philippines. The entire process went smoothly, from scheduling my pool session, to scheduling my weekend of boat dives, to buying my equipment from the shop, to getting my temporary PADI
