Since we do custom work for varied clients, we are limited only by the clients' imagination. Feel free to approach us with more than one fabric for the same piece of furniture or have us expose the legs of a sofa that has taken on a dated look. Murphy's maintains regular hours. Our upholsterers and sewing staff are true professionals and we are fully insured against any loss or damage to a piece of valuable furniture.

Services
Murphy's Upholstery is a small business of craftsmen which has continuously operated for over 75 years. Founded in 1934 by Mrs. Francis Murphy during the Great Depression, Murphy's supplemented the family income by making slipcovers, draperies, and re upholstering small pieces. After Mrs. Murphy's death, her son, Mr. Paul Murphy took over.
We count among our clients, many of the most talented designers in the area. Even though we use an identifying label embroidered with the client's name on most of our reupholstered pieces, we can easily omit this custom touch to maintain a bit of anonymity. We are well versed in working from architectural drawings and have accounts with many commercial fabric and vinyl providers to provide turn key work for commercial projects.
Often a piece needs more than just a change of cloth. Perhaps new legs installed, or maybe the ones on there now are loose. Are the springs of your love-seat hanging from the bottom? Is the arm of your reading chair wobbly? Murphy's can often make repairs to furniture without re-upholstering or during the re-upholstery process.
Re-Upholstery is more than changing the fabric on a piece of furniture! Murphy's is often called upon to alter the shape of an arm or make an attached sofa cushion a detached sofa cushion. If your cushions have gone soft and limp, why not let Murphy's replace the soft foam rubber to give it back the support it needs.
Upholstery entails the creation of a new piece. We have the ability to make built in banquettes, window seat cushions, custom headboards, and creative ottomans. Often clients appear with nothing more than a photo from a magazine or a scribbled diagram on a bar napkin and we can transform their idea into a custom piece like no other in the world!

Murphy's just recovered a wingback chair for us and did a wonderful job! They were very professional and helpful in helping us "fit" the fabric. They obviously have an excellent eye as well as skill in upholstery. The turnaround was very quick, though we were fortunate that we caught them in a brief lull in business. The shop us very clean and organized and they also offer free pickup and delivery. The price was very good. Highly recommend.
