When determining your strategy to enter the U.S., you must decide whether you wish to enter as a nonimmigrant or as an immigrant. What's the difference? Individuals wishing to enter the United States for a temporary period of time and for a limited purpose are considered nonimmigrants under the law.
E-1 Visas are nonimmigrant visas that are sometime called the next best thing to "green cards" i.e. permanent resident status. In Canada, E-1 Visas are processed through U.S. Consulates located in Vancouver and Toronto (with limited processing in Calgary). This visa is issued for a period of one to five years and can be renewed indefinitely so long as the underlying fact pattern continues to support the requirements for the Visa.
E-2 Visas are nonimmigrant visas that are sometime called the next best thing to "green cards" i.e. permanent resident status. In Canada, E-2 Visas are processed through U.S. Consulates located in Vancouver and Toronto (with limited processing in Calgary). This visa is issued for a period of one to five years and can be renewed indefinitely so long as the underlying fact pattern continues to support the requirements for the E-2 Visa.

Terry called me personally and gave me excellent advice for free - other places I called wanted to charge me 240/hr just for a brief consultation. After our call, she looked up more information and called me back to update me on further news. I am so impressed that she took the time to help and would highly recommend her services!!!!!

I contacted Terry's Firm for an inquiry on a immigration question that I couldn't get a straight answer on from other immigration lawyers, either the answer was no(but I heard conflicting information), or they wouldn't want to give me a consultation without a fee. Terry and her staff went beyond the call of duty to review all my "details" and give me a free consultation that was very helpful, unfortunately the "law is the law", but she did provide me some options and I can now rest that I finally know the answer. This kind of service is special, no one else was willing to do this for me, it showed
