Stephen H. Means, O.D. graduated Cum Laude from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1984 and went on to receive his Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Houston in 1991. While at UH he was a member of both the Gold Key and Beta Sigma Kappa honor societies. He is an Elder of his church & his hobbies include playing guitar and woodworking.
Lindsey Mills, O.D., originally from Michigan, graduated from Michigan College of Optometry in 2012. She began practicing in Texas after graduation and joined Huntsville Vision Center in 2017. Dr. Mills is a therapeutically licensed optometrist and is trained to diagnose and treat many diseases and conditions of the eye.

Proper eye care is important for people of all ages and regular eye exams are encouraged for everyone, but especially for those already using glasses or contact lenses. Your vision plays a vital role in your life each and every day, which is why it is so important to take the right steps for maintaining good eye health.
At HVC we use the most up-to-date technology and testing methods to ensure the best eye care possible for you and your family. We use this technology for early detection during your annual comprehensive exam to diagnose developing eye diseases before symptoms begin.
OPTOS Retinal imaging: allows us to detect and monitor both ocular and systemic diseases including (but not limited to) glaucoma, macular degeneration, retinal diseases, retinal detachments, diabetes, and hypertension.Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT): by using light, this allows us to obtain high-resolution images which help us diagnose and better manage diseases like glaucoma and/or macular degeneration.

New patients keep our business growing, so we are always proud to offer high quality optometry services to our patients. We understand that your first visit to the eye doctor can feel overwhelming and we try to accommodate all new patients with a comfortable and organized facility. Our goal is to cover everything you need with a full and efficient assessment, but without waiting to see the doctor.
It is always our goal at Dr. Stephen Means & Associates to give you the eye care you deserve in a timely manner. You can even fax us your forms or drop them off prior to your appointment to speed up your first visit. Let us know what questions, concerns, and goals your have regarding your eye health or vision on the form.
We are providers for most local and national vision plans. Additionally, some medical plans allow for an annual routine eye examination, even without a separate vision plan (a good example of this is BCBS of Texas). Nearly all medical plans allow for an emergency medical eye care visit. If you don't see your insurance plan on the above list, its still possible that we are providers and will accept it.

WOW! From Roxy at the receptionist's desk to begin with, to Tammy at the end in checkout, and Dr. Means, Dr. Lindsey Mills, Tina in the front office and Melissa in eyeglasses in between - these wonderful people and the other excellent staff members are very happy, friendly and thorough professionals! My wife and I have been there several times this year for eye exams, contacts, eyeglasses and follow ups for two eye surgeries Dr. Means needs to rename his practice to "The Steven Means Center of Excellence in Optometry". They Really Are that good!

Excellent and knowledgeable staff. Exams are thorough, staff is kind, and the Cash pay cost is minimal for excellent service.
Esly did an amazing job finding frames that were the right fit and color, cleaned up my 5 yr old glasses and answered all of my questions with grace and wisdom.
Always enjoy going to this place, I’m never disappointed!

Absolutely great experience. Our family have been patients for many years. Dr. Means has the best technology for a thorough and comprehensive exam. They take the time to check your eye health as well as the corrective exam. They have contact lenses and glasses to suit everyone. They will size you for all corrective lenses and can get you bifocal, transition, coated, etc lenses. We saw Dr. T on our most recent visit and she was very, very, informative. She wrote down all of the instructions. Eva was so friendly, efficient and explained everything she was doing. This team is absolutely fantastic

I was very blessed two days ago. Went in for my eye appt and new glasses. Ms. Angela told me that she could fix my old glasses until I could get the new pair. Upon her trying to fix them she came back out and told me that the lenses messed up in the cleaning process and that they owed me a pair of glasses. I haven't felt so blessed in a very long time. Her and the rest of the staff helped me pick out a pair of frames and made me a pair of glasses. I thank Angela and the rest of the staff very much at Dr Means office. They brought tears to my eyes with their help and generosity. I highly recommend

I have used Dr. Means for several years. He is a perfectionist when it comes to the exam, which is why I trust him with my eyes. My astigmatism changed and he checked it three ways to be sure that it really had. Others would not bother. His staff has always been quite patient and tolerant of questions and my indecision at times. They also are perfectionists as to the quality of the lenses whether they have made them or, due insurance requirements, did not. I know when go there that I am getting a top quality exam, and people looking after my lenses. I have been to several other eye doctors in Houston

Excellent exam. Very thorough. Didn't try to sell me glasses I didn't need. The office was neat and clean, very professional appearance. Appointment was on time. Staff was friendly and competent. Dr. Means made several recommendations which I have found useful. I've finally found an eye doctor I think I can trust.
