Chococoa Cafe is a 40-seat cafe and Newburyport's only Espresso Bar providing a great cup of coffee/teas or try one of our many espresso drinks (hot & iced) and a friendly, knowledgeable staff. Chococoa Baking Company's The Whoopie has been featured in national press including Oprah Magazine, Yankee Magazine, and The Wall Street Journal.

If you are interested, or know someone who would love to work with us, download our application. You'll take the first step, and learn more about what we are building, and how you can be part of it. We have a hard-working, creative staff with a wide range of experiences, talents, and skills, brought together by commitment to excellence and great food and drink.
Services
Chococoa Baking proudly offers a collection of gluten-free Whoopies - six flavors in all. They are certified gluten free and meet the guidelines of 20 parts per million. We use Cup-4-Cup Flour to bake these tasty Whoopies. Customer feedback is that they are not dry but very moist and cannot taste the difference from the regular ones.
In the Fall - New England's Best Time of the year - we love the feel of the crisp air, falling leaves and the return to our comfort foods. That is exactly what our Fall Whoopie Collection offers. It includes pumpkin with ginger cream cheese, chocolate with salted caramel, chocolate with chocolate ganache and apple cider with cinnamon cream.
The Holiday Collection is made up of classic and exotic Whoopie flavors. Perfect for your holiday entertaining, gift giving, and even stock stuffers. Plus recently Whoopies have become known as the "perfect corporate gift." Gingerbread with vanilla cream cheese - you will taste the warmth of gingerbread - with just the right amount of spice melting with vanilla cream cheese - delicious combo!
Chocolate with Vanilla Buttercream - the classic New England whoopie pie - but this Whoopie is "a twist on the classic, " with triple chocolate cake (our secret recipe) with a touch of Madagascar vanilla in the fresh buttercream (no Crisco, additives or preservatives) - pure creamy buttercream. Our most popular flavor.
We encourage you to reuse the packaging, including the ice packs plus everything disposes efficiently - as they easily compact unlike other bulky shipping alternatives. Help us help the environment. As The Whoopies are perishable, all food sales are final. Chococoa Baking Company will be happy to replace any item(s) in the unlikely event that they become damaged or spoiled during transit, or to refund you the full amount of The Whoopies.

The coffee is great, but what I really go in for is the lemon/ginger scones. I know everyone talks about the whoopie pies, and I'm sure they're great, but I HAVE to get the scones. I was going to take a photo, but, it wasn't around long enough.

I had an iced chai tea and a delicious warm leek and feta tart. Both were very enjoyable. The flaky and light crust was sooo good. The service was great. The staff paid attention to make sure everyone was being served and was efficient so even though it was busy it was still a pleasant experience.

I came in after close not knowingly, and the woman (whom I believe to be the owner) at the front helped me and my girlfriend anyways. She was very polite. She got a barista to make our drinks and we went on our way. I’ve been here many times and I work down the street. I’ve never had a bad encounter or a bad drink. 10/10.

Just stopped by after ice skating and they were just closing up. They warmly invited us in. My daughter has a bunch of allergies and they were so accommodating. Their coffee is dynamite! Best GF/DF brownie we’ve ever tried! Will certainly be back!

I surprised loved ones with a shipment of “Whoopies” that traveled from Newburyport, Mass. to Gulfport, Mississippi. The buttercream bliss arrived in sturdy, cold-packed protection.
Of course the flavor varieties delighted. Whoopies will now be my favorite go-to for gifting a New England favorite to friends and loved ones living elsewhere.

Staff is the best! First time in today and when I asked about savory breakfast options, the woman at the register came around the counter and took the time to share the options with me. They accommodated everyone of my requests (like heating up the breakfast, having my cappuccino in a mug) and were just very welcoming. Spinach Feta Croissant was delicious and cappuccino was great. Would highly recommend I if you find yourself in Newburyport any morning.

Their specialty is whoops pies, of which they had about 10 interesting variations on hand, including coconut cream and key lime--referring to the filling. The flavors change by the season too. The pies are not obscenely huge as with some other bakeries. They are appropriately sized for a responsible diet, maybe 3-4 inches in diameter. The coffee here is fresh and delicious! There are a few other attractive baked treats like fresh bread and muffins. A pleasant setting to read or work on your computer in.

Mouth watering selection of small whoopie pies. You won't feel too guilty eating a few at once. We wandered in after they had closed (didn't realize til we left and saw the hours on the door - oops) and they were still remarkably friendly and helpful. We tried three of the pies - bourbon (yum), Boston creme (again, yum) and the winner chocolate ganache. So much choice that it was hard to pick just three. We also ordered an iced mocha which was fabulous and had a great amount of caffeine and wasn't too sweet. Finally, I bought some anadama bread and they even sliced it for me. Very

We love Chococoa for Sunday coffee and sweets after the Farmers Market. Great pastries.
Tonight we went to Shuckin' Good time at Port Plums & Newburyport Olive Oil (awesome store) with the desserts from Chococoa, beautifully decorated whoopie pies.
The oysters supplied by Newburyport Fish. Wine by Bronco Wine, Flowers by Pat at Beach Plum, Cheese from Dancing Goats.
This kind of event with these great establishments help to make this town amazing. It was a wonderful Valentine's Day gift and a great idea to gather the Best of N'port - thank you to all the business owners and friends

The iced mocha was an absolute disappointment: watery, no chocolate, no taste of the milk. The drink was made without any care and the women behind the counter were rude and served/charged others that were after me as I waited for my drink/to pay. Would not recommend.

Stopped in and picked up an assortment of their signature whoopie pies (including coconut, smore, salted caramel and chocolate ganache). Although on the petite side, they were very moist and flavorful. The perfect size for a little sweet bite !

I love this place, great owners and the best whoopie pies in eastern Massachusetts. Great selection of flavors. Stop in and check them out and better yet if you can't make it to Newburyport, go online and order as they ship everywhere.

A must stop if your traveling in the area

Delicious coffee! My wife had a beautifully crafted mocha and I had a wonderful cappuccino. We also tried their whoopie pies. They had a great gluten free selection for my wife. She enjoyed a gluten free chocolate whoopie and an espresso whoopie. I tried their regular espresso whoopie and really liked it. Their service was very friendly and the owner came and talked to us. She was very friendly and enthusiastic about her business. Also this location is dog-friendly which is great.

They have some good teas and coffees and make a bunch of different whoopie pies and some pastries. Not bad stuff for that specific corner of the Tannery. That's the good news.

The bad news: woe to you who decide to eat in and have any pet allergies. they let people free roam their dogs everywhere in here. On heavy dog days, you may unable to stay in the space for longer than 5 minutes it is consistently so bad with dander (thank goodness for albuterol!).

And if you ask for a space where dogs can't literally wander up to you lick your hand, even the owner will not help you in any way

After a rough day mattress shopping (oh how i loathe pushy sales people), my husband and i decided we wanted a little treat, he first suggested ice cream, but I haven't been in the mood for it lately, so a little lightbulb went off and he suggested driving into town to try Chococoa since we have been meaning to give it ago. Sounded like a great idea to me. Town was bananas due to an event, but we lucked out and found a parking spot in the Tannery and felt like everything was coming up Milhouse.

We went in, and there was no line! Score! We decided to get 6 mini whoopie pies, we each picked

Just tried some of their little whoopie pies for the first time. We got in a big box at work and I dove in head first.

I tried three: chocolate/vanilla, lemon/vanilla, and chocolate/raspberry. Oh man. They were all so good. The softest little pies with smooth, rich filling. I really liked the lemon/vanilla best but they were all good. I'd love to try the other pastries!

Wonderful people service is fabulous and the owners know everyone by name. It's like Cheers but with the best whoopie pies (on Oprahs list) instead of beers;-). Espresso drinks, croissants from France, and unique two bite whoopies... A gem of Newburyport!
There's plenty of parking too!

This one is for people who specialize in something and do it EXCEEDINGLY well. BEAUTIFUL and CLEAN, well lit, spacious - ode to breakfast, light foods, pastries... But the star of the show are the Whoopie Pies. Delicate three bite confections, made with premium ingredients, rich chocolate and well balanced not icky sweet, just very well balanced, very well made. Blonde whoopies, red velvet whoopies, seasonal whoopies. Free sample Sunday. This husband and wife shop truly is a lovely labor of love. And I've never been a whoopie fan. Until now.

Standing ovation of my day!
