Kunde Family Winery
For over a century, five generations of the Kunde family have farmed our 1,850-acre estate in the heart of Sonoma Valley. Our winemaking mission is to carry on that tradition by crafting elegant, estate-grown, sustainably farmed wines with a real sense of place - beautifully balanced and expressive of our dramatic vineyard landscape.

Its brawny full body displays a complex acid structure that carries the juicy, black cherry and licorice flavors across a rich supple base of polished tannins. Just like the color of a summer sunset in Sonoma Valley. Delicate aromas of rose petals and lychee fruit are rounded out by the full, ripe flavors of summer strawberries, pomegranate and cherries.
Services
For over a century, five generations of the Kunde Family have farmed our 1,850 acre estate in the Sonoma Valley - a truly remarkable legacy in the modern age of California winemaking. A fervent, forward thinking vision of land stewardship and sustainability began over 100 years ago and has been shaped with each successive generation.
This is a scrumptious recipe from my neighbor Caryn, a wonderful cook. There have been many summer evenings where we've savored these delights over a glass of Chardonnay on our patio. My husband devours these, and he doesn't even like fresh tomatoes! This tasty appetizer is so reflective of autumn - pears, caramelized onions and blue cheese.
I'm a big fan of blue cheese and this combination of caramelized apples and walnuts provides wonderful layers of flavors. This easy to prepare salad is a go-to of mine when the days get a bit warmer. Sitting on the patio with a glass of Chardonnay - it's a salad that I just can't put down! A tasty Asian inspired dish that marries bright herb flavors with ripe mango and beef filet.
Your taste buds will love the delectable meld of flavors and your eyes will delight with the exquisite presentation. Of all the culinary traditions of the Kunde Family, this recipe is the coup de grace and has been handed down to each generation from our Grandfather, Arthur "Big Boy" Kunde. The lamb will benefit from an overnight marinade if you have the time, however even 3-4 hours would be great too.
The addition of chocolate and ricotta are a great variation from the traditional pumpkin cheesecake. If you're lucky enough to live where Gravenstein apples are grown, never miss a chance to bake with them. Tart, crisp, and firm -they offer amazing flavors. If you happen to have a Meyer lemon tree in your yard (or your neighbors) definitely use for this recipe.

This place is pretentious, judgmental, and racist. Refusing to serve a group of Asian women (35+) celebrating an engagement after obtaining their own subjective inaccurate assessment of the celebratory bride. Would highly not recommend. Would give zero stars if that was an option.

Marcia,

Abusive and disrespectful are strong words and a false description of what took place with your winery and staff. We were judged immediately on arrival. The subsequent conversation that took place was not hostile and was meant to provide that feedback in person. I don't believe you were part of that

One of the most expensive tasting in the area with below avarage quality. $40/person for 5 glasses with just a spit of wine, is a bit much.
On the reservation it says that you’ll get a cheese plate with it, but if you are 1 person or 4 apparently you get just one cheese plate. The size of the plate is decent for 1 person, very scarse for 4.
The place is also very commercial. You can find better tasting in the area for a cheaper and much better experience.

Wonderful experience! Friendly, Dana was extremely down to earth , my husband and I loved hearing the long history of the Kunde Winery. We loved the wine so much we ended up joining the wine club. Each wine had its own distinctive and unique aroma as well as surprisingly and distinct and individual flavors with a twist. We plan on returning w/ more family members.

We've been Kunde members for close to 7 years. We rarely take advantage of the free tastings because we live in Colorado. We brought two friends for a tasting and they wouldn't allow us to buy a bottle afterward to hang out on the property and relax. We had cancelled our next reservation to spend more time here. We are no longer members. Unfortunately, Kunde has become too corporate. If you want to support a real local winery, we recommend visiting Bartholomew Estate Winery just outside Sonoma. They treat you like family there, rather than Kunde that treats you like just another way

Beautiful property and view from the mountain top tasting. Wine tastings were so small it was hard to get a good feel for the wines. Otherwise it was a great experience.

This was our first stop on our first day of wine tasting in Sonoma and WOW, what a great experience! The winery is beautiful, the outside patio near the pond is very comfortable and peaceful, the wines are delicious and our server was excellent. She gave us a good amount of information on each wine, shared the history of the winery, never once made us feel rushed and wasn't pushy about joining their wine club. I definitely recommend visiting this winery!

The best winery we have tried in Sonoma county by far. This is family owned 6 generation winery. We mixed up days of reservation and showed up on Thursday vs. Friday. They were so nice about it and said since we were already there, they would accommodate us. Paul made our whole tasting experience amazing. They really make you feel as a part of family. The wine was absolutely delicious; we even signed up for a membership at the end, even though we are living in Florida. Looking forward to our first box💕

Great outdoor space with plenty of tables and a cute little fountain to enjoy while wine tasting! Plenty of parking and shade. Great space for dogs and babies in strollers! The service is great and wines are super reasonably priced. Wine club membership is 6 bottles per quarter. Best known for white wines and variety of Chardonnay's

The wines were lovely, especially the century zinfandel and the red dirt, and the views were spectacular, but the fondest and most memorable aspect of our visit was, hands down, the service. Andrew and David were beyond welcoming and accommodating, and they are the reason we will be back.

One the most personable, low key, interesting and enjoyable wine tasting experiences you will ever have. Family owned and the scale of the tasting room is warm and knowledgeable. I'm reluctant to recommend because I don't want to have to wait I line, but it is one of the best wineries in California.

We visited this place during our honeymoon. This was our first stop in Sonoma county for a tasting and let me tell you this place sets the standard. Right from the start we were welcomed by friendly staff and led outside to the covered tasting area. Guests were seated in a social distancing manner from other parties and staff were wearing masks which was comforting.

We were given such wonderful service from Michaela and Dana. It was wonderful hearing the history of the winery and learning that they are the oldest and largest in the county sitting in 1850 acres. The property is massive and so

Just wanted to thank the wonderful people at Kunde winery. We have been members for quite some time now, thanks to Cynthia who signed us up, and continues to be one of our favorite wine servers. Always pleasant with a smile on her face seeing and greeting new and old tasters.
I was there two weekends ago, and Jessie was my pourer and she was wonderful as well. I had my dog, Charlie with me and the help couldn't have been more accomadating. Every time we come it is a wonderful experience thanks to the fine staff there. Please let them know they are very much appreciated!

This was our last stop during our tasting weekend and my husband and I did the mountain top tasting with Wade as our tour guide. The tour was comprised of us and three other couples so very easy to keep our social distance.

We started off with a white wine tasting at the winery and then moved on to a tour of the wine cave - AMAZING! We then took a bus up through the vineyard, with a few photo ops along the way, to a mountaintop overlooking the Kunde vineyard. We had a charcuterie board waiting for us at the top and really enjoyed tasting the reds with the beautiful scenery!

We had a bonus pour

First stop to our wknd was Kunde. Gorgeous sunny weather on Friday. Check-in was quick and we were led to meet David, our wine specialist. He was friendly, warm and patient. We sat under the outdoor patio, partial water and cave view. Chilly for a bit but the yummy wine brought our temperature back up. Cheese plate with nuts and jam looked good, wrapped up nicely. Tasteful. He never rushed us and even offered to take group photos. Small details. The salted chocolate was great end to the tasting, we bought more. This was a great start!

Visited 4 wineries total over the weekend, and Kunde was our favorite one because of the incredible service & people! The person I went with has pretty severe allergies (eggs, nuts, dairy, sesame), so it's always pretty tough for places to accommodate. When we arrived, we were greeted by Andrew who was incredibly sweet in ensuring that there wouldn't be any allergen issues. We learned that some wines actually are made with egg (no other winery pointed this out), so he laid out a ton of options for us to have a good experience. They also usually have a cheese plate, but they created

Had a GREAT virtual wine tasting with Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Dessert Cuvée. My favorite was the dessert wine. 5th generation, this is a vocation for this family! Jordan Kunde did an amazing job sharing the history of the winery and his family. Simple, yet complex wines. When COVID is over, it's only a short 69 miles from our home. Well, no more writing, I have to drink more Kunde. Yes hank you Jordan!

This review is for Sep 2020 visit. Fun fact, one of my close friend's family name is same as this vineyard (i.e. same family name as the owners of this vineyard), so we wanted to visit this place. It was those COVID times when places were just opening up after first phase of lockdown ended, and visiting vineyards made the most sense since a lot of them had outdoor arrangements. It was such a great place, hosts had made a lot of arrangements to keep tables far apart, and all of them were wearing masks all the time. Tables were cleaned properly and set up. And, the snack platters, if you were

Great visit with my family for a tasting on a Friday afternoon. Everything felt very safe and well spaced apart in compliance with COVID-19 protocols. Staff were friendly and well informed about the wines. Wines themselves were all very good. I totally understand why my mother-in-law is happily a member of this winery!

My first experience in wine country couldn't have been better because I chose to go to Kunde Family Winery. I came with my SIL, she was representing a restaurant that carries their wine and looking to bring in more. Regardless of the reason their, I truly believe they treat every single patron with this level of service. It was 5 stars all the way from entering to our table and the food and wine served.

We did their "tasting" which include trying their estate wine + a more expensive wines of the same kind. We tried the Chardonnay, Sauv Blanc, Cab Sauv, and Zin. Honestly, I don&apos

Kunde Family Winery has an incredible selection of wines. It was a pretty good surprise that they have an incredible Malbec for about $32, and a better Merlot for about $23. If you don’t have time for a tasting or arrive too late for it you just can buy a bottle of one of its delicious wine and enjoy it in the beautiful patio with the incredible view of this amazing vines. If you arrive on time you can make a tour inside of the cavas that are located under the hill. Amazing!

Splendid views! Good wines and service. I did Mountain Top Tasting. A bus carries us to the mountain top and other spots. The driver/tour guide carries some wines, and each participant carries a wine glass. We tasted wines at each stop. There was no food/cheese pairing, no written information. The guide was friendly but didn't talk much about the wines: its history, texture, tasts, etc. Not very attentive to my questions. I tried to schedule a private tour before going there, but not successful; should have done it earlier. Overall it's a good experience.
