Follow your nose to our bakery and you'll find freshly baked pastelitos bursting with the tropical flavor of our signature guava preserves; handmade empanadas, croquetas, and Cuban sandwiches crafted with lechon marinated in our own mojo, then pressed on freshly baked Cuban bread. Our desserts like flan and arroz con leche are lovingly made in small batches.
Be sure to grab a Cuban coffee with hand spun espumita for a pick me up that pairs well with everything!

First time here and the food was amazing! I got the beef empanada and guava & cheese pastelito, both were incredibly fresh and flavorful. The empanada filling was the best I've had and the pastelito was a nice size, very flaky and also had a tasty filling. Service was also amazing, super friendly people and a good vibe. Looking forward to coming back here for breakfast and lunch!

I ordered the cafe con leche, a guava and cheese pastelito & the pollo sandwich. Coffee was strong and perfectly sweetened. The pastelito was flaky and delicious to the last bite!! and the sandwich was filling and juicy (tastes best when it’s fresh and hot). When places like this exist why would someone choose to go to Starbucks 😭🤤 service was very friendly and pretty fast. 11/10 would recommend this amazing bakery.

First and last time for me...1. Your 'No Mask No Service' sign was a MAJOR turn off. That is what vaccines are for. 2. All their latin employees at the front had their masks below their noses while they are passing out a mask to me. Interesting at best? 3. Bakery goods decent (I am of cuban descent), not worth the drive from Johns Creek. I will ensure all my family & friends (who just moved here) know that you require a mask or provide no service. 100% of them now won't step foot inside your store because of this. They left Cuba just becauase of this sort of tyranny. Note: Neither of the other

This is my favorite spot in Atlanta, hands down. My boyfriend's family is Cuban and they recommended it non-stop from the moment we moved here, and we've been countless times since.
If you read nothing else -- ARRIVE EARLY. You NEED to get your hands on the Guava & Cream Cheese pastelitos and they go quick.
Other items I'd recommend for a first timer: papa rellena, empanadas (but especially the beef!), and their iced cafe! For sandwiches, we love the El Viandero Wrap (vegan!) and the Pan con Lechón. At this point I think we've tried everything on the menu though and

It's about time there was an authentic Cuban Bakery around this area! One of the things I miss most from living in South Florida is my access to Guava Pastelitos, so I am SO happy to have a new reliable cuban bakery around.
Parking: Buena Gente is located in a plaza off Clairmont near Community Q BBQ. In general you can find parking pretty reliably. However, word has gotten out about how delicious Buena Gente is, so on weekends around lunch time it can get a little busy.
Bakery: Thankfully they have my beloved Guava Pastelitos which have the perfect ratio of guava jam to buttery flaky layers

Want a taste of home?! Buena Gente is so close to comfort for me! The cafe con leche is delicious with buttered bread, early in the ATL/Decatur traffic. ORDER EVERYTHING. I promise you won’t be disappointed. P.S. I can never capture a picture of my sandwiches I order from there because I’m consumed by them and THEN I remember words.

The hubs and I have been meaning to try this place, but they close early (2 to 3 PM) and isn't open on certain days (Monday and Tuesday). This has always been a missed opportunity. So, plan folks instead of just winging it here thinking it's open late.
The trigo puffed wheat was interesting. It sorted of tasted like the Korean jolly pong snack. It was a hearty shake that can help fill you up. The hubs was happy at its decently priced point ($3.75).
The spinach & Swiss empanada was really good! It was decently sized. The inside was also decently filled, though I think more filling

I lived in Miami for almost 18 years and didn't think I would miss pastelitos as much as I have in the six months I've lived in Atlanta. I had been meaning to try Buena Gente for some time, and I'm glad that I finally did! However, my mistake was going at 2 pm on a Saturday (within an hour of closing) because so many of the items that I wanted to order were already sold out. So I'd recommend getting there early if you want the full menu. I got chicken empanadas, ham croquetas, key lime pie, and flan. They weren't Miami-level good, but an excellent Atlanta option. I didn

Was in the mood for some Cuban coffee so I went on my trusty Yelp to see what they had to offer in my area. Located in Decatur off of Clairemont Rd & N Decatur Rd. In a plaza with other stores & plenty of parking.
Swiss cheese & spinach empanada
Guava & cream cheese pastelito
El viandero wrap with grilled peppers & onions, sweet plantains, black beans, and vegan cilantro aioli, wrapped in a flour tortilla.
Cafe con leche espresso, steamed oat milk the Cuban latte
Everything was delicious.

This place is just fantastic. Legit Cuban pastries and sammies galore, it's no wonder there is constantly a long line coming out the door. This is also because social distancing is enforced, for which I am thankful.
I set up a UYE and have been back to Buena Gente a few more times. If this were closer, I'd be hitting up the bakery weekly. The Cuban sandwich is perfection, while the croquetas (both chicken and ham) and papas rellenas (fried mashed potato balls stuffed with perfectly seasoned ground beef) always round out our meals here. I sometimes grab a beef pastelito for variety.

Vi's UYE was the gentle shove I needed to finally try popular Cuban bakery Buena Gente which even snagged a spot in Yelp's Top 100 Places to Eat in 2021. But a Saturday afternoon was not the time for a maiden visit; I was disappointed that they were basically out of anything pastry-related. I did score a chicken croqueta ($1.50) which was a good lil appetizer.
The Cubano sandwich was substantial ($9.50) and tasty. The wait to get it was not insignificant though. The employees will bring your order outside when it's ready. We lucked out and were able to purchase these sandwiches

Definitely forgot to write a review about this spot but I will since I went today. I recommend coming early if you want a sandwich as they frequently sell out and do not let customers preorder over the phone. You can tell this place is good because of the people waiting online for their orders!! This place has been killing it since opening during COVID.
My boyfriend and I have loved the Buena Gente food truck for a few years and are so happy that they opened a sit-down (soon after COVID) restaurant! We have enjoyed the pastellitos and Cuban coffee from the truck in the past. I don't remember

So happy we tried this place out ! I am always craving a perfect Cuban sandwich and Buena Gente didn't disappoint. We have friend to go atleast once a week since we've tried it. They have great sandwiches, empanadas, and coffee. (Basically ALL THE FOOD IS YUMMY! ). I love getting a beef empanada and a colada for breakfast. If you're wanting to give this place a shot go now! Just a heads up they don't start serving their sandwiches until after 11 though.
The inside is extremely clean and the customer service is on point!

Since I'm craving empanadas... This place is delicious! I tried the beef empanada and tasted the cubano sandwich and it was just amazing. When I visited they were limiting capacity indoors and there was a little bit of a line out the door but it did not take too long. The staff were nice and helpful. My hubby loves the croquetas here. You definitely need to give this place a try! I'm excited to try their cuban coffee next time.

Oh. My. God. AMAZING! I feel like I want to keep this place a secret forever because I don't want to share. Growing up in Florida with access to good Cuban food, I didn't think I would ever find something close to it in Atlanta. I'm so happy to be proven wrong. I found this gem while looking around on google maps to see if there was anything nearby.
We stopped by for lunch last week and ordered a couple of empanadas, pastelito, and Cubano. They ran out of beef empanadas, so we snagged a chicken and spinach with cheese. The chicken was so flavorful and moist! Usually when I get

You know that feeling you get when you discover a hidden gem that you kinda don't want to tell everyone about but know you should? That's exactly how I feel about Buena Gente. I am absolutely in love with spot and can't wait to go back. They're open limited hours and closed certain days so before going, I would double check on that! Because of COVID, and how busy they can get, they are only allowing 6 guests in at a time so you should expect a wait, especially around lunch tome. HELPFUL HINT: They serve their sandwiches, AFTER 11am. If you get there at that time tho, you better

I went to Buena Gente and ordered the Cuban sandwich and I was not disappointed. The sandwich cost $10.96 and it was totally worth it.
The bread was perfect, the meats were well seasoned, and the cheese was melted perfectly.
I ordered inside and waited outside to have my sandwich brought out to me.
I will definitely be back to check out other items on the menu.

I was in the Atlanta area and craving a piece of home. I've been following Buena Gente since their food truck days. Gotta say that their croquetas rival any of the famous ones from Miami. Their pastelitos are better than any I've ever tasted. Nothing comes frozen here, all is made from scratch from traditional & authentic Cuban flavors and you can definitely taste it. I wish Miami had a craft bakery like this one!
There are so many options to choose from here so you can't go wrong! My ultimate favorite though was the guava pastelito paired with a croquette and trigo (wheat

GOOD TO GREAT: It's an amazing thing when passion meets perfection. And that's exactly what you feel when you walk into Buena Gente, Cuban Bakery in Decatur, GA.
Cuban coffee.. and of course cubano sandwiches, are a staple of any Cuban bakery. And yet they bring so much more to the table, literally.
Empanadas, meat and vegetarian varieties.. coquetas, pastelitos, and other baked goods are on the menu. Then there's the sandwiches, Croqueta Peperada, Medianoche, and an El Viandero Wrap are just a few. Everything, and I mean everything, is made by hand and made fresh.. just no substitutions or modifications
