If it's a Sunday, it must be hot ham and rolls at Peters Deli. I'm the first customer this day but while I'm lingering to jabber with Dick and Dale about the beautiful weather another customer jumps in front of me for the first register purchase of the day. The retail center at the corner of 51st and College was build around 1970 on property that was once a celery farm.
Remember, all the property in the Village of Greendale was made up of 17 farms purchased by the Government in 1935. In 1972 Dick opened a Dry Cleaner in the middle of the the strip center and the coins operated Laundromat followed a year latter on the east side of the building. In 1977 Dick purchased the entire property which included a White Hen Pantry.

I saw this place driving by and it made me wonder, whatever happened to White Hen Pantry? I guess 7-11 bought out the competition with better coffee back in 2007. I remember passing up 7-11s because the White Hen Pantry coffee was better. This was back when coffee was under a buck, so maybe this part of the review belongs in the museums of ancient history YELP section. This former WHP became an independent family run joint with great Wisconsin style ham and rolls, or roast beef and rolls. I'm kind of odd, being a transplant I suppose, in that I want something healthy with fiber on the

Stopped in for a fish fry and was disappointed. Definitely wasn't amazing but wasn't the worst. The reason for the 2 stars is the rest of the experience. I dined in and they didn't give me napkins and none were out. They didn't have a garbage avaliable. And overall cleanliness of the store was bad. Cobwebs and dirt everywhere. Missing ceiling tiles. Was just disappointed.

This is another place that I have been looking at for a while now but with so little food pictures I haven't been in a hurry so today I decided that a Steve stop by was in order. The place is definitely unique because it's a convenince store, liquor store, deli, bakery, small pizza restaurant, sub shop, dry cleaners and a laundry mat. The convince store also has a small sit down area in the front windows if you want to eat in. I was torn between the fried chicken and the Italian special with the Italian special winning because I'm a sucker for Italian subs. The Italian special sounded

Used to like going to this place. But they don't seem to be taking Covid seriously. Some employees wear masks and gloves, some don't. Despite it now being required to wear masks by state mandate. An employee who wasn't wearing a mask initially (put one on when checking people out) also took my card with an ungloved hand. And I frankly would rather have been able to swipe it myself or if they had to take it, to take it wearing gloves.
Very unlikely I'll ever go back here. Don't want to risk myself or others I care about with how little contact tracing there is. And don't want to support a business

I stopped to get a sub sandwich and was unhappy there was no wheat bread but the lady was so eager to make one and told me about how the french bread and Tuna salad is all homemade by the owner so I got it. I have to say this was the tastiest tuna salad sub I have ever had. I would even stop by just to take home some of the homemade bread. Only reason I rated a 4 is because the extra vegetable toppings like onions or green peppers were extra which was annoying unlike subway potbelly or cousins. The pickles were really good qualitiy though.

The food here is questionable. I find that the deli meats need to be fresh, even then they lack flavor. The inside of the store is generally clean and no major complaints other then the quality except for the price, the price is OK, If they where to lower the price of the meals to equal the quality of the food I would consider buying here again. Overall all I would try them again, but I would not expect high quality or huge portions.

I was a faithful customer. I ordered pizza almost once a week from this place. There was a problem with my order one time and I called and they told me that they wrote my name down and would gladly remake my order at a later date. I called today and spoke with Katie and was told "I don't remember that, so there is nothing that I can do". I will no longer be supporting this business.

Hot ham and rolls on Sunday are good, but they never have enough buns which is why the rating is so low. Every time I come in they are out of the onion buns and barely have enough potato or butter buns. Today while I was in here when I asked if they would ever start making more buns (I literally just left peters, I got here as soon as I was out of church 11am). The answer I got was, no we will not start making more, you should have been here sooner... Then another lady in back slicing the ham said " you're lucky we have buns at all." Not a great experience.

The ham and rolls are the best around! They're simple and delicious, but you do need to get there early in the morning to get some, as they only make a limited amount. Still, it's worth driving across town for me for the fresh rolls and hot ham.
I did place a special order for the rolls once when I was planning a party and their rolls were requested. It was very easy and worked out perfectly.
They do have lots of other convenience items, like any other stop-and-shop type of store. We've picked up a number of other items and never had any issues or disappointments.

Ah... what was once the White Hen Panty of my youth is still a convenience store in the middle of suburban Greendale. Live in the T or S sections and want something fast without having to head down to Sentry? Here is the place.
Very convenient location for all the apartments around here. Can't really do all your shopping, but it's perfect for picking up whatever you need in a hurry.
