The Acton-based Company has produced over 65 dance programs since its inception. The company has grown over the years to produce critically acclaimed performances throughout Boston and Metro West. Commonwealth Ballet Company develops, fosters and promotes the performance and appreciation of classical and contemporary ballet.
Chip Morris began his training in modern dance and ballet while pursuing his Ph. D. in Mathematics at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. While in Madison he taught advanced ballet classes at the Wisconsin School of Ballet, directed the Jazzworks Dance Company, co-founded the Choreographer's Consortium, and choreographed for the Madison Savoyards.
Auditioners will be divided into smaller groups than in previous years to enhance social distancing. Each group will be assigned a starting time that will be staggered throughtout the afternoon. Each group will begin with a warm-up barre in an upstairs studio, and then proceed downstairs for a 30-minute center.
For audiences of all ages, our annual readings from The Nutcracker are a fun introduction to one of the great stories in western literature, and a joyful reminder of a holiday favorite. Brought to life by dancers of the Commonwealth Ballet in their rich and colorful costumes, this reading is sure to delight.
