We are a full service optometry center located in Monticello, Minnesota who has been servicing patients for over 35 years. Our Minnesota eye doctors Dr. John M. Cavanagh and Dr. Michael Wieber and their team take great pride in providing quality eye care services and optical products at competitive prices.
John Mark Cavanagh, O.D., is a native of Minnesota who grew up in New Hope, Minnesota. After attending St. John's University for natural sciences, Dr. Cavanagh excelled in his doctorate program at the University of Houston's College of Optometry, graduating Summa Cum Laude while also being the Secretary of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society.
Michael Wieber grew up in St. Cloud and graduated with Highest Honors from St. Cloud Technical High School in 1967. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with degrees in physics and mathematics from St. John's University in 1971. He met a secretary in St. Cloud named Rita Fedor who became his wife and his optician.
Our eye care center in New Brighton offers a full range of eye health services to clients of all ages, from children to older adults. Our optometrist at Academy Contact Lens Clinic provides eyewear prescriptions and offers corrective laser eye surgery co-management as well. Very knowledgeable, patient and friendly staff. Kid friendly with toys and decent selection of kids glasses. My exam was quick and easy. I was even offered an alternative when I whined about doing the "puff test", which was totally painless. Slightly hard to find, you have to take the walking path to the left after driving around behind the buildings to the parking lot.

This is the best group for contact lens wearers eye examinations.
Dr. Cavanagh is patient and thorough with exams. He will take time to understand and explain nuances with your eye health and prescription. In the twenty plus years I have been a patient I have never felt like I was part of a production schedule.

I would strongly recommend Academy Eye Care for anyone who's tricky to fit for contacts. I've been wearing glasses/contacts for 18 years, and this is the most helpful clinic I've been to. I've got a very strong prescription with some other issues that make it tricky to fit me for contacts and glasses. Dr. Cavanagh and his associates really took the time to get me contacts that corrected my vision and glasses that were attractive and comfortable.
